NPWS appeals to all hunters not to hunt over the coming days in order to allow wild birds time to re-fuel and to recover from the cold snap. A temporary voluntary ban has been agreed with NARGC and ICSA, and NPWS will continue to monitor weather data from Met Éireann.

are back on their breeding grounds. Sadly only 100 or so pairs remain. Among them, this male and his mate for life. He spent his winter in Kerry and is back on his kingdom in Donegal. Lets hope they others rear chicks this year!

The Curlew Conservation Partnership grant scheme is now open for applications by local community groups proposing to take action in support of curlew conservation in their local areas.
The deadline for applications is 31 August.
