I’ve made a reading lesson on one of my favourite but forgotten figures in black history. If you teach about Rosa Parks, you MUST mention Claudette Colvin who is the teenage girl that refused to give up her seat on a bus 9 months BEFORE Rosa Parks.

Devoured this in 2 days. Wonder. This book gives a realistic look at the brutal reality of some. It invites readers to engage with characters who are real & who come alive off the page. Acceptance, friendship, transition…the themes go on. Can’t wait to use it with Y6.

Finally got around to reading this. Wow. The Proudest Blue. A beautiful message about being proud of who you are. I remember girls being bullied in secondary school for wearing a hijab so reading stories like this in primary schools is so important. Bravo @IbtihajMuhammad 🌊

It all started with a mystery chest in the middle of the classroom… Brilliant day today launching our next book: Darwin’s Dragons by @LindsayGalvin . Kids used the clues from the chest to predict what might happen in the story. Each child then got a copy with some choc coins😋
