I know it’s parochial, but it’s hard not to be pleased for big Tommy Walsh today. It was a winding road to get back to being a meaningful player in championship football, and there were plenty who thought it wouldn’t work out for him. Nice to see that effort & belief get rewarded

At the peak of his powers, Tommy Walsh was one of the most dynamic footballers in the game. Perhaps more impressive was his comeback from what should have been a career-ending injury in Australia to get every last drop out of himself for Kerry in the end.

Whoever thought it was ok to coach an under 15 team to defend and play like this for an entire game should pack it in. Changing the rules would be a big help, getting these coaches out of the game would be even bigger. This ain’t football.

Assuming the games go ahead as planned, which is something we’ve been looking forward to for months... it would be a sensible move for the GAA to reduce the burden on teams travelling long distances, and avoid all hot spot counties by playing games in suitable neutral venues.
