Something I don’t hear talked about much in the journalism industry:
The disproportionate amount of staff job opportunities there are for photojournalists compared to reporters. 🧵
Just signed up to be a DoorDash driver because I don’t make enough to live in Austin, the city I cover & care so deeply about.

Currently in Texas politics: the Speaker of the House is arguing with the Lt. Gov who is arguing with the Governor who is arguing with the Speaker who is arguing with the recently impeached (in the house) Attorney General, largely via Twitter.
I can still take on freelance work, so if anyone needs someone in Austin, I’m available for news, features, real estate, food, etc 📸
Thank y’all for the kind words. It’s rough out here but with transparency, maybe things can get a little better.
Received an email this morning from this player asking for this photo. It was taken as he approached home plate after a grand slam. He informed me his mom recently passed and he was pointing up to her. Wow. It’s moments like this I’m glad to have captured.
That’s me! 👋
@Gannett
I was 1 of the 1st photojournalists on scene in Uvalde, covering a terrible, haunting tragedy. A major contribution to our coverage of keeping those in power in check & contributing to our Pulitzer Prize finalists.

I’m back home now. I need to eat. But I’m nauseous. I’m reading stories now & I know I saw some of the aftermath with my own eyes, but reality is setting in. This hurts. And it feels so cyclical. This is America.

The House votes 92-48 to pass SB 14, banning certain medical care for transgender kids. The bill needs one last vote in the House before heading back to the Senate. If the Senate ok's the changes to the bill, it goes to the gov's desk.

Would love to skip to December soon. But I’m very thankful to have known people so great that it hurts this much. I’m just so sick of losing friends.
