So two weeks after a developer bought Crooked House pub (which would be worth far more as building land) it catches fire. Two days later it is bulldozed before any chance to see if building can be saved. Was the JCB booked before the fire?

Here's a real mystery. We buy £50K a year of drink for FCO & No10 to entertain guests "with wines of appropriate quality at reasonable cost” & you'd expect that to be massively reduced during Covid so why won't they publish figures for when Boris was PM?

Talk about making work for yourself.. In March Baroness Dido Harding part of Board of Jockey Club which "courageously" decided to go ahead with Cheltenham Festival #coronavirus super-spreader event. Now she's running UK Gov's #Covid19UK Track & Trace programme #WrongSortOfTrack

@DerbyChrisW @Channel4News In what sort of world is defending Hamas deliberately targeting 260 unarmed people at a music festival & slaughtering them because they're Jewish an "effort to obtain justice"? Of course although you defend murdering 100s of Jews just for being Jewish you're not anti-semitic

Why does the BBC still call these atrocious murders "honour killings" as if the victims are to blame for dishonouring their families

Just watched all of The Reckoning. Handled victims with respect. I think Steve Coogan excellent as Jimmy #Savile - simultaneously vacuous & hiding behind a screen of catchphrases and shellsuits and full of menace. Can understand decision to end it with his death - my only thought

@TelegraphRugby @jimw1 So on Saturday is the @Telegraph expecting me to join in singing a tuneless dirge about a deity who doesn't exist saving a man who is supposed to rule over us because he's descended from William the Conqueror?

When we complain about how tough it is to report in Britain... Our colleagues around the world in Malta, Mexico, Turkey and the rest are being gunned down by gangsters or butchered by high ranking officers who had "misunderstood" the Crown Prince's instructions

This is incredible. Rishi Sunak "forgot" to consult health chiefs about Eat-Out-to-Help-Out-The-Virus which sparked 2nd wave but spent weeks & £2M (of our money) on focus groups to try to make £850M splurge acceptable to voters. Great work @PippaCrerar

People like Lucy Letby and Beverley Allitt come along every 10 years or so. What's shocking here is management trying to cover up and threaten whistleblowers rather than stop the murderer

No surprise - Karin Ward doesn't make BBC list of notable deaths of 2021 - but in her own way she was a trailblazer - courageous enough to tell her story -encouraging other victims of powerful men that there was a chance that they would be believed rather than mocked #Savile

Sad news. Karin Ward who opened the Pandora's box of Jimmy #Savile 's offending - the first woman to go on camera - has died. She was brave & badly treated by the BBC. She made it easier for other victims of sexual assault to be believed & wrote excellent Victim Zero. RIP Karin

In 1665 heroic village of Eyam went into lockdown to stop plague spreading to other areas - 273 villagers died cut off from world - but to no avail because the local squire went to London then hastened to Durham and Barnard's Castle spreading the infection or something like that

To be clear I support the BBC - I hate attempts to destroy it as it turns 100 - I was proud to work for Beeb & proud of my colleagues & much of the output - but I can't defend managers who allowed #Savile to abuse for 30 years & the decision to run tributes rather than expose him
