My daughter applying to Anesthesia forwarded her emails to me (during an interview) to watch for interview offers & respond immediately not to lose a spot. This is making me so anxious and unable to focus as have to check at every sound. I don't know how you all do it! #Match2021

In case you are curious about #Match2023 apps compared to last year! almost all increased. Number of signals in parentheses did not make any difference except possibly for Ortho! EM is headed towards another rough season as applicants decreased by 24%! 2 spots per 1 MD applicant!

Offering students interviews when there are not enough spots for them to sign up is unacceptable! A student just called me crying because received IO (Not OBGYN) from a top school for her when she was driving on freeway, 10 min later spots are gone! #ChangeMedEd #Match2021

For IMGs more than any other applicant group, too many applications are submitted at places that will never look at them. More than half of programs NEVER look at non-US IMGs and less than 7% often look at them. Program transparency is essential!

Applicants today have doubled their ROL from 2002 to match and programs have increased their ROL to fill. Match rates slightly down. I am not an economist or a system engineer, but I believe these are signs of a suboptimal system in need of reform. #MedEd

I wouldn't been able to compete in the sea of centralized applications today where "numbers" are the differentiators and the more affluent you are, the more courses you can afford to take and more places you can apply! Money should not be a limiting factor #DiversityandInclusion

Thanks @NEJM for publishing our work! In 1952, the Match was created to address difficulties from paucity of applicants relative to positions. This is opposite today. Time to critically re-evaluate for process improvement! #Match2023 #MedEd #ChangeMedEd

The following schools have cancelled clinical rotations: Cornell, Columbia, Drexel, George washington, Harvard, Jefferson, NYU, Mount Sinai, Ohio state, Oregon, SUNY, Temple, Colorado, UPenn, Dell, UW-WWAMI. Too complicated why but must #FlattenTheCurve and protect our workforce
