As we debriefed today, I told my student teacher that when I feel like crap, the day’s biggest goal becomes “don’t pass it to the kids.” A sophomore that I didn’t know was still in the classroom piped up, “you do a good job of that.” 💙

So much of a secondary teacher’s success seems to depend on us recognizing that we weren’t these kids’ only class that day. They came from somewhere, and they are headed somewhere. We aren’t the only adults telling them to remember/do/navigate things.

Idk, if they stopped paying me, I’d stop teaching. Mostly because the bank would take my house. And my kids would be hungry. And man, do they go thru clothes quick at this age. So, I do it for the money. Like a professional. An adult. I’m just blessed to love it-and kids-too.
