I wish more folks in the VO world would see other VAs as their colleagues/coworkers instead of competition. So many talented folks become vitriolic & unpleasant because they see everyone as a rival. People notice that behavior. Trust me, it doesn't lead to more opportunities.

I used to say the most important thing in a young VA's career was perseverance. I still think it's important, but I think what's far more important for new & upcoming VA's is PATIENCE. There's no timeline but your's. You don't need to have a lead role by 2 years in, or 5, or 10.

Yesterday we buried my grandmother. A resilient & powerful woman who lived through polio, WWII, Breast Cancer & more. All throughout she loved her family. An accomplished medical pathologist for 30 years, but her proudest achievement was sewing her grandkids' Halloween costumes.
