Hi. I'm Mai. 35 years ago I was born in a refugee camp in northern Thailand.
My parents fled war-torn Laos, swimming across the Mekong River in the night.
We came to the USA when I was 3 w/ nothing but the clothes on our backs & few photos to remind us of where we came from.
And that’s a wrap folks! 👏
Running for office is deeply personal for me. When I saw that my children didn’t have leaders in office who looked like them, I knew I had to step up.
I am incredibly humbled for the overwhelming support of the voters of the 13th House District, who have chosen me to represent our community as the next State Representative.
🧵
This is my breathtaking view of Michigan’s State Capitol from my new office.
Thank you to the residents of the 13th House District for entrusting me with this opportunity to serve our community and to be a voice for all families.
Let’s get to work!
Yesterday I spent the morning at the State Capitol interviewing potential staff for my office. It was a beautiful day before the tornado warning came in. I've wasted no time getting ready to take office! I was able to come back in time to attend the BOC committee meeting at 3pm.
I am grateful to take this next step in supporting my community as a State Representative. Now that
@SpeakerJoeTate
has sworn me in, I look forward to hitting the ground running and

Who knew a little girl that grew up poor in a refugee camp could some day have a seat at the table with others. This wouldn’t have been possible without the educational access, equal opportunities and democracy of our great country.
Profoundly grateful to the voters of the 13th House District for your overwhelming support.
Thank you to our hardworking team of volunteers, you helped me knock doors, phonebank, write postcards, and to our generous donors for helping us raise critical funds. THANK YOU!
We did it! My first week in office was so exciting, full of challenges and extremely productive. Thank you for sending me to Lansing to work for the people! 🙏
