LEAVE THE WARROAD LOGO ALONE!!
You should NOT legislate that a native community cannot use their heritage in a logo at THEIR discretion!!
Leave it up to THAT LOCAL community!
They designed the logo. They commissioned its use. Legislators should stay out of it!
There will be a meeting Wednesday at 10:00 AM at the state capitol (Room 120) to discuss the removal of MN "Indian" mascots, including Warroad's native designed/supported logo.
History of the Warroad logo and the importance to the community. Go Here -->
I am not sure how people REPEATEDLY miss this point.
“State of Hockey” does not mean hockey is the most popular sport in MN.
“State of Hockey” means hockey interest and participation in MN is higher than that in any other state.
Can’t say that about basketball or Fball in MN.
I am officially done with the NHL. Absolute corruption. The draft lottery is a transparent joke.
The fact Chicago was rewarded for trading away quality young players to try and tank is beyond disgraceful.
Great season by the Gophers, even if it didn’t end the way we hoped. Can’t sit back on a lead and play not to lose. Tough lesson to learn.
Hats off to QU for playing a great game and sticking to it. Well done.
Thanks to all the Gopher players and coaches for a fun season!
This is a HIGH SCHOOL hockey game in Minnesota. Find me this type of attendance for a high school hockey game in ANY other state and I’ll concede that Minnesota’s love for hockey isn’t special compared to other states.
@acsimcox22
@MNMixed
MARKETING SLOGAN. You forget about a team called the North Stars? Can easily argue that there are more hoops fans, for example, here in the metro. Bottom-line is this: We are a bandwagon sports town and sure, right now, Wild excitement is high.
Greatest MN player of all-time? I believe he is still the only player to win an NCAA title, Olympic Gold, and Stanley Cup. Was also the first Hobey Baker winner and first American born player to get 100 pts in an NHL season.
Quinnipiac fans are quickly becoming some of the most annoying in the country.
I have never seen a fan base simultaneously whine about not getting enough respect while at the same time saying their team is going to run yours out of the building.
I hope
@MaryKunesh9
knows that her bill effecting Warroad’s name will certainly mean the end of her political career.
Warroad’s nickname is ENDORSED and WANTED by the local indigenous tribe. THEY designed the logo.
Stop being a coward and respond to the
@TheRinkLive
questions!
The East Coast bracket manipulation rears its ugly head. This is why people outside the East Coast bubble HATE the current system.
They are pushing too far. Time to get the NCAA to break up this racket.
Gopher Hockey won NCAA titles in hockey in 1976 and 1979 with just in-state players on their roster.
Can anyone name any NCAA team, in any sport, that has ever done that before? Just curious.
This epitomizes what is wrong in youth sports. These parents should be both ashamed and embarrassed. I am embarrassed for them. Absolutely disgusting behavior.
@MacEngelProf
He did not leave his feet. You do know we can watch the video, right Mac? So much hyperbole and misinformation in here that it is really hard to take this article seriously.
You 🤡🤡🤡 have absolutely ZERO shame. All fans of Western Schools should write their athletic directors that schools should go directly to the NCAA to break up this racket.
If your school didn’t get screwed by this zero integrity system this year, your turn in coming.
For those wondering or doubting why MN is the “State of Hockey”, here is a thread that explains what the moniker “State of Hockey” means and why it only can apply to Minnesota.
All 5 Minnesota Division 1 hockey programs made the NCAA Tournament and a sixth program, St Thomas Academy, moves to D1 next season. The State of Hockey is stronger than ever!
What an absolutely embarrassing effort by Gopher hockey. Minnesota State is a great team, and perhaps the better team, but the Gophers should be embarrassed by this effort.
Michigan Fans quickly forget that the Hobey Baker Award is about more than stats. In no way should Adam Fantilli win the award. He fails significantly on the sportsmanship aspect. He wouldn’t even be in my Hobey Hat Trick.
Great, great player, but extremely immature.
Let’s be clear: Minnesota is in the early game because they are the
#1
seed. Michigan does NOT outdraw MN for ratings in hockey. Nor is their program ever more profitable. Never has, never will. Especially so when MN is playing BU and Michigan is playing Quinnipiac.
As happy as I am with the win, I am super disappointed and upset that we have fans who are bullying some of the reporters who cover this team. I don’t think people realize how BLESSED we are with coverage. If you don’t like reading, you can ignore. But don’t bully good people.
College Hockey Committee - We need to mess with bracket integrity to increase attendance.
Also the Committee - We’re going to schedule games for 2pm on Thursday.
Oh, we don’t care THAT much about attendance. Just enough to give us an excuse to mess with brackets.
People need to stop trying to find a neutral site solution for NCAA Hockey regionals. There is none. We have the same stupid discussion EVERY. SINGLE. YEAR. The ONLY answer is regional campus sites. Only fair way to do that is host regionals at campuses of
#1
seeds.
Disagree with the announcer 10000%. Because of recruiting approach in early years by Mariucci, Brooks, and Woog, Minnesota Hockey is what it is today. A dominant hockey talent hot bed.
Gophers are reaping those dividends. Best built-in recruiting advantage in country.
Important to Remember - Gopher Assistant Coach Ben Gordon was on the 2006 Gopher team that lost to
#16
Holy Cross as a
#1
overall. I am sure he is relaying some lessons to this Gopher squad about not taking
#16
Canisius lightly.
Seriously cannot believe we have gotten to the point where East Coast college hockey pundits are so out of touch with reality that it was EVEN SUGGESTED that the
#1
overall in the Pairwise should play the
#15
overall and
#2
play
#41
in the first round just to save
#41
a flight.
Only jackasses rip on Minnesota being the State of Hockey. The state breathes hockey like none other in the USA.
I haven’t seen ANY Minnesotan who has seen this view think this was a goal.
NOTE: Before the whiny Michigan fans complain about the posts at Mariucci on Saturday after their goaltender knocks the net off for the 12th time…
Neither net was dislodged once during last night’s game.
Keeping it 💯
With a goal in yesterday's win over Finland, Cole Eiserman hit 1⃣0⃣0⃣ points and sits behind Jack Hughes for most points in a season by a U17 player!
Congrats, Eisy!
Wanted to give another shoutout to
@JessRMyers
for his Gopher Hockey coverage this season. ZERO doubts that we have the best college hockey beat writer in the nation (mad props to the legend
@SchlossmanGF
as well).
Jess, your work is SO appreciated! You are a state treasure!
Hearing
#mnwild
have called up Minnesotans Sammy Walker and Nick Swaney in advance of team’s flight to Nashville. Swaney, the Lakeville South product and two-time UMD national champ, would make his NHL debut if he plays.
Let’s all take a moment to thank
@FutureGophers
for the incredible recruiting coverage he provides us fans. I know how much time he puts into this and how busy he already is outside of running this account.
You should have a million followers my friend. Really appreciate you!
#PrideOnIce
is all about winning championships and raising banners. It wasn’t our year, but our time WILL come to raise
#6
.
Thank you to all of those who have worn the 〽️ for the final time and all that you’ve done for the program.
Happy Miracle on Ice day! 42 years ago today the US defeated the Soviet Union 4-3 in the 1980 Winter Olympics. A feat that Sports Illustrated calls the greatest moment in sports history.
I live to debate fools trying to claim Minnesota isn’t the “State of Hockey”. Yes, it’s just a silly moniker, but it’s our silly moniker and we have earned it.
Last point on the regionals - At this point it is really hard for an outside observer to deduce anything other than blatant bias, callousness on the part of the committee. Some of the rationals for breaking bracket integrity are such weak excuses.
“I’d be surprised if you were able to find anybody’s that’s faster”
“I’d put him up there in the same speed category as Connor McDavid.”
I spoke to people around top
#2023NHLDraft
prospect Oliver Moore to learn about him, his game, and his “superpower.”
@bruce_arthur
We fought a war against you so that we don’t have to take a knee when you tell us to anymore. We can show support for inclusitivioty without disrespecting those who fought for our flag. Enough of the exhausting virtue signaling. Do good without asking for credit.
The same thing that has made the NCHC so good in the Tourney the last 7+ years has made the Big Ten so good this year. The conference play in Big Ten this season was a meat grinder. These teams are heavily tested and prepared.
@JoeSmithNHL
@StateOfHoppy
High school hockey game in MN. Case closed. Not to mention MN produces far more NCAA and NHL players with half the population. I respect Michigan hockey, but this debate isn’t even close.
Minnesota had more USA hockey youth registrations (55,284) than an other state. Mass is next with 41,794. This despite the fact that MN has less than half the population of MI or MA and MN doesn’t register any of its high school hockey players with USA hockey.
