Interesting insight for people with COPD using smart watches. I cannot stress enough the published evidence that cough monitoring patterns can predict a COPD exacerbation 3-4 days before it leads to hospitalisation! Cough monitoring is now free and available on every smartphone.
Popular smart watches may overestimate oxygen saturation following exercise in patients with COPD, especially at lower saturation levels (the most relevant group!). Important to be aware of this when patients ask for exercise advice.
