Lemon and Ginger are definitely immune boosters for the body, but they are NOT a cure for COVID-19. So whereas it is a good habit to take them regularly to help with improving immunity, please couple that with handwashing; sanitizing; keeping social distance and wearing of masks.

1/3. Today my heart is heavy having lost four colleagues to Covid-19 in the last 24 hrs. For a country that barely has enough healthcare workers, 4 is too many a loss especially midst such a crisis.

The virus is treating us abnormally because some have treated it normally. I implore everyone to wear MASKS, WASH HANDS regularly, SANITIZE, avoid body contact by keeping PHYSICAL DISTANCE at all time. Do all these simultaneously to reduce risk of infection. Covid-19 is real.

UPDATE: Today we have recorded the highest number of positive cases at 307. Even though our fatality rate is 2.3% which is better than the global average of 6.7%, the numbers point to increasing infections. #KomeshaCorona by practicing our laid down protocols.

Following reduced/removal of restrictions, we are experiencing a slight surge as has been evidenced elsewhere globally whenever restrictions are removed. This cannot however be regarded as a second phase because we have not fully flattened the curve of the first phase. #AskTheDG

All test kits used by @MoH_Kenya are validated by @WHO and further validated by @KEMRI_Kenya . This is a standard procedure regardless of country of origin of the kits. Strict quality assurance measures are in place in all testing labs in the country. #AskTheDG

New COVID-19 Variant- B 1.1.529- Update. A new variant of COVID-19 has been detected in Botswana, South Africa and Hong Kong, christened B.1.1.529. It carries 32 mutations which makes it highly transmissible and with potential for vaccine escape. #AskTheDG

Positivity rate of 17.5% & 30 recorded deaths is worrying. I urge us all to avoid Crowded places, Closed spaces and Close contact. COVID-19 pandemic may be here with us longer. We must all adhere to infection prevention protocols even as we work towards higher vaccination numbers

There is no local transmission in Namanga yet, and as such there is no justification for that action. However, because of the challenges we have with truck drivers, we continue to closely monitor cross border movement and possible transmission. #AskTheDG

Managing an asymptomatic patient costs averagely 21K per day. Mild cases require averagely 21,369 per day, severe cases average cost 51,684 per day. While critical (ICU) cost 71,283 per day. 65% of these costs are contributed by PPEs. #AskTheDG

We’re planning to train the 60,000 community health workers on psychological first aid & are continuing with mapping out of mental health resources in all the 47 counties. We are further recruiting 134 psychologists, a cadre which was previously not in public service. #AskTheDG

During the earlier phases, due to fear and stigma, women kept away from health facilities leading to increasrd numbers of still births. However, this is changing as the @MOH_Kenya is using Community Health Workers to encourage pregnant women to go to health facilities. #AskTheDG

Stigma poses mental health problems. This is because stigma leads to discrimination and isolation of the persons being treated for, suspected to have or have recovered from COVID-19. @MOH_Kenya continues disseminating correct info in order to end stigma. #AskTheDG
