If you're wondering why we still need the local media, here's a little example.
I met a nurse today who told me NHS staff were being fined hundreds of pounds in parking charges and asked if I would do a story.
I did - and all the fees have been immediately cancelled
My dad has passed away.
I wasn't able to be with him at the end because of Covid-19
The funeral will just be me and my husband and I can't even buy flowers
So I wrote this because it's the only way I can pay tribute to him and say goodbye. RIP Dad
So hopefully, that small story has saved those nurses hundreds of pounds and all the hassle of trying to appeal against parking fines
That's how the local media helps
Penistone and Stocksbridge MP Miriam Cates is under investigation by Parliament's standards watchdog
It's claimed she has caused "significant damage to the reputation of the House as a whole, or of its members generally", according to the Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards
On Monday I asked if Kate Josephs had attended any parties at Downing Street at any point when restrictions were in place.
It was denied.
I never thought to ask about the Cabinet Office
Sheffield Council officers were unhappy I turned up at a public meeting today as I hadn't informed the press office.
I don't have to.
Journalists don't need permission to cover public meetings.

The Local Government Ombudsman has asked Sheffield Council to make a public apology to the people of the city after numerous problems were found with the way it removed street trees
I don't feel comfortable with this complete abandonment of masks, we're not even phasing them out. We wear them to protect others. What about the workers constantly dealing with members of the public?
Welcome to Pat Midgley Lane - unveiled in memory of Pat who was a Labour councillor for 33 years.
She was the first known serving politician to die of Covid in March 2020
I'm overwhelmed by the kindness, love, support and prayers people have sent me on twitter
Thousands of people, many complete strangers, responded to my tweet yesterday.
Thank you to everyone who took the time, from the funny anecdotes to tales of how my dad inspired or helped you
Matt Hancock says people understand why the Govt is taking these measures.
They don't actually. They don't understand why London is in Tier 2 when other areas with lower rates are in Tier 3
That moment when
@JohnLewisRetail
closed its Sheffield store and made 299 staff redundant? Wouldn't bother posting out your Christmas catalogue in Sheffield

I took a bit of grief on social media for this story, with a few people saying it wasn't hard news and "so what, there's a pandemic"
But I reckon during a lockdown, our parks are more important than ever in helping our mental health
Hello from my new role at
@BBCSheffield
🎙
The day started with an appearance on

I'll be finishing with a chat with

about Sheffield Council's coalition on Drivetime
BREAKING: It's understood Sheffield Council Leader
@CllrTerry_Fox
is standing down.

Spare a thought for the
@sccstreetsahead
folk working in the dark and pouring rain tonight.
I know of one guy working at Ecclesfield, soaked through, done well over his shift and no end in sight. He can't get back to Handsworth tonight so is kipping with friends
To the trolls who are gleeful about a councillor suffering a nasty bite from a dog - just a reminder that local councillors are trying to make your community a better place. They don't "deserve" to be bitten by dogs or to have insults added to injuries.
Enough is enough!
@Bob_of_Hills
blockades a street to stop motorists parking on the pavement. Pedestrians, cyclists and wheelchair users can still easily pass. More soon
Phew, the John Lewis social team have just finished an all day brainstorming session to find ways for people to talk about us on Twitter..... Have we missed anything? 👀

Apologies too at not being able to answer questions, the results came thick and fast
Lots of analysis to come next week so stay tuned
So there we have it. That long, hard winter we have been warned about has begun
If you can, support a bar or pub over the next few days as they're going to need it
Stay safe - don't party in the street on Friday night like wazzocks in other cities

My son is 10. He's never drunk coffee. Until we arrive at
@BBCSheffield
where he's asked for "white coffee, one sugar please". What?! Why do you wait until we're at a radio station to decide you want to try coffee?!
I'm now doing the mother's "you better bloody drink it" glare
Imagine if the world didn't have journalists to translate council speak.
From a planning report: "An assessment of dust impacts to existing sensitive receptors during the construction phase has been considered."
"sensitive receptors" are nearby residents!

I had to bring my children to a scrutiny meeting tonight. We've been here 2hrs. We're still on the first agenda item. And they have been absolute stars. They don't even have devices, they are reading and colouring quietly at the press desk 🤩

She says “It would cheer me up no end and I’d like the Lord Mayor to unveil it”
Put Corrie on for some light relief. There's a planning application so it feels like work. Then I start questioning why there's only one councillor? Why are they allowing two-way discussions? I mean, there's creative license but these are clear breaches of committee procedure
Text from daughter: "There's a rumour Mr Tumble is dead. I said I would ask you as you always know when something is fake news"

Zoom award of the day goes to the public health consultant at Sheffield Council who is trying to present a report at a scrutiny meeting while looking after a vomiting child

Sheffield Council's new Executive
Can I just say how tricky it was to get this photo on my mobile with everyone socially distanced!
So big thanks to all the councillors who patiently shuffled and stood around while I acted like a school photographer 📸
The great Sheffield cable cars idea 2003!
There was some discussion about this on twitter and I did promise to find the original photo

This is a beautiful blog and poem by a family friend which details how my dad went from being a great political orator to being unable to speak with dementia. It will resonate with people and families strugging with it. Thank you Anne x
Trying to find information about Tier 3, and trying to bring that information to you dear readers, has been all consuming for days now.
I'm working really hard behind the scenes to keep you up to date. It's leaving less time to tweet. And do other stories. And sleep
Every week I mean to say how brilliant
#ghosts
is but tonight's episode was one of the best. Charming, family friendly, packed with a talented cast and a laugh out loud script. A real tonic in these tough times. Well done
