You might think that the sea is company,
Exploding comfortably down on the cliffs
But no: when it begins, the flung spray hits
The very windows, spits like a tame cat
Turned savage.

We all have mental health trigger days. The Glorious Twelfth is one of mine.
Exhaustion on the faces of my men having dealt with the aftermath of a 15yr old suicide bomber is clear, the carnage isn’t.
Jon, furthers away, was KIA 2 weeks later.
It’s ok not to be ok.

1/8.An extraordinary moment of honour and privilege as I presented my credentials to HE President Halima Yacob of Singapore. The Guard of Honour was impeccable. I discussed with President Halima the strength of
#SGUKPartnership
and the importance of cohesive societies.
It is time to hang up my boots. Serving the community as

Yesterday was my last day as an economist in DFID after an incredibly rewarding decade there, the last four years working for Stefan Dercon and then

To mark the occasion, a few thoughts on being a policy economist 1/n

I love London, and my family, and chatting to my wife, running along the Parkland walk, walking across Hampsted Heath, chatting to my parents over zoom ...but...
