I have a message for the women of North Carolina: you still have a legal right to an abortion in our state. North Carolina state law protects women's reproductive freedoms. 1/
BREAKING: Today, I joined 22 other attorneys general in filing a brief with the United States Supreme Court opposing Texas’ radical, anti-democratic lawsuit. This suit seeks to overturn the will of the people by throwing out the votes of tens of millions Americans. 1/
BREAKING: Fantastic news for voters and the health of our democracy -- the NC Supreme Court just struck down the legislative and congressional maps as an unconstitutional partisan gerrymander. The maps violate a voter's fundamental right to vote.
BREAKING: Today, I, along with some colleagues, sued Sec. Betsy DeVos for putting the interests of predatory, for-profit schools trying to take advantage of students, ahead of those students investing in their education. Her rule is wrong & unlawful. And I'm fighting to block it.
BREAKING: My office is supporting federal law enforcement efforts to investigate NCians who participated in the raid on the U.S. Capitol. If you have any information about a NCian who participated in this lawless insurrection, please email investigationtips

This is true even after the Supreme Court today stripped women of their right to an abortion under the Constitution by overturning Roe v. Wade. If we want to keep our freedoms under state law, then we have to elect state officials who commit to protecting them. 2/2
My statement on today's
@washingtonpost
story "Louis DeJoy’s rise as GOP fundraiser was powered by contributions from co. workers who were later reimbursed, former employees say":
It is against the law to directly or indirectly reimburse someone for a political contribution.1/2
NORTH CAROLINA: Do NOT do what the President directs. To make sure your ballot COUNTS, sign and send it in EARLY. Then track it ONLINE with BALLOTTRAX. Do NOT vote twice (it’s a felony), or waste your time, or unnecessarily risk exposure to more people.
This represents a profound and outrageous rejection of democracy with no precedent in our nation’s history. It would also violate some of our nation’s most basic constitutional principles, including federalism and respect for state law. 3/
Breaking: Today, I reached an agreement with the US Postal Service to ensure timely mail delivery in future elections. In 2020, the Postal Service made 11th hour changes that put their mail-in votes at risk of not being counted. 1/2
Court after court has determined that its factual allegations are false. The complaint asks the Supreme Court to simply ignore the voters in several states and order legislators in those states to replace the voters’ choice with their own. 2/
Today, President Trump outrageously encouraged NCians to break the law in order to help him sow chaos in our election. Make sure you vote, but do NOT vote twice! I will do everything in my power to make sure the will of the people is upheld in November.
🚨🚨BREAKING: Big win in our case against the Postmaster General. The Court ordered the Postal Service to reverse many damaging changes that slowed mail delivery. I will keep fighting to protect your right to vote.
BREAKING: HUGE WIN at the 4th C. Court of Appeals for NC voters! By a 12-3 margin, the Court rejects the Republican legislators' effort to disallow votes cast & mailed back on or before Election Day but received after 11/6. 1/
I’m incredibly humbled, honored, and pumped to officially be the Democratic nominee for Governor of North Carolina.
Thank you to everyone who has supported our campaign and believes in our vision for a stronger, safer North Carolina.
Now let's win this election on November 5th!
‼️| Attorney General of North Carolina is now investigating Ticketmaster
— For allegedly vi𝚘lating consumer rights and 𝚊ntitrust laws after The Eras Tour pre-sale.
BREAKING: I just filed a brief with the North Carolina Supreme Court on behalf of Gov. Cooper and myself urging the Court to clarify that the North Carolina constitution prohibits partisan gerrymandering. Partisan gerrymandering distorts our democracy. 1/1
BREAKING: A HUGE win tonight for NC voters at SCOTUS, which upheld the State Board of Elections’ effort to ensure that every eligible vote counts, even in a pandemic. Voters must postmark their ballots by Election Day but now have certainty their vote will be counted. Let's vote!
I’m in! I’m running for Governor to fight for our future. As your AG, I have taken on big fights for you and won, time after time. That’s what I’ll do as your next Governor. Together, we can build a better and brighter North Carolina.
BREAKING: The three judge panel in the NC Congressional partisan gerrymandering case (Common Cause/LWV v. Rucho) just issued a ruling unanimously concluding that the congressional maps constitute an unconstitutional partisan gerrymander.
The Court’s ruling in Harper v. Hall today is a devastating blow to democracy. Our constitution is supposed to be a check on the power of the legislature. But these Republican justices have surrendered that role, taking power away from the people and giving it to an…
BREAKING: Our side just won in a big US Supreme Court case involving the ACA. The Trump Administration refused to pay risk corridor payments, resulting in higher premiums & less access for people getting health insurance on the exchanges. The court ruled that the feds must pay.
Any credible allegations of such actions merit investigation by the appropriate state and federal authorities. Beyond this, it would be inappropriate for me as Attorney General to comment on any specific matter at this time. 2/2
UPDATE: The FBI has now created a one-stop portal for anyone with information about Wednesday’s riots. Submit any information you have via . Thank you. We must all defend our democracy when it is under attack.
BREAKING: THE PEOPLE WON! In Moore v. Harper, the Supreme Court rejected the radical independent state legislature theory and reaffirmed the most central principle of our democracy: that the people, not politicians, have political power. 1/2
BREAKING: Today, I sued DuPont & Chemours for dumping PFAS into NC’s drinking water even as they knew these forever chemicals damage human health & our natural resources. These companies put their profits ahead of the people of NC. That's wrong, and I intend to make them pay.
The only GOOD thing about the President’s tweet is that he FINALLY encourages voters to VOTE BY MAIL. It’s an easy, safe & secure way to cast a ballot. To request yours:
Voters who vote by mail should know that their ballots will be delivered in a timely fashion. Every eligible voter has the right to vote and know that it will count. I will always fight to protect that right. 2/2
My statement on today’s incident in Graham, NC:
All eligible voters in North Carolina have a constitutional right to cast their vote safely and securely, without threats or intimidation. After today’s troubling events in Alamance County, I went to the courthouse in Graham ... 1/
Last night I had stroke-like symptoms after Anna and I walked our dog Jenny so I went to the hospital. Doctors confirmed that I had a minor stroke and performed a successful procedure to remove a small blood clot.
Breaking: Women, not their employers, should make their own birth control decisions. Federal judge agrees & blocks Trump Administration’s birth control restrictions.
BREAKING: Today, North Carolina has ended the sexual assault kit backlog. This is a milestone more than six years in the making to deliver justice for victims and survivors.
North Carolina is at a crossroads: We can either give into
@markrobinsonnc
's rhetoric of division and hate OR we can come together to build a North Carolina that’s safer and stronger.
Important Thread on VOTING in NC:
1. Register to vote before Fri 10/9
2. Request mail-in ballot ASAP
3. Mail in your ballot ASAP & track receipt by text/email
4. or Vote during 17 days of early vote (Th 10/15 – Sat 10/31)
5. or Vote on Election Day (Tu 11/3)
6. DO NOT VOTE TWICE
Many people are learning this week who
@markrobinsonNC
is. But for North Carolinians, his rhetoric of hatred and vitriol is no joke — and we can't let him win.
North Carolina GOP nominee for governor, Mark Robinson, is following the Trump playbook of saying the craziest, most vile s**t you can imagine
@ronnychieng
Thanks, Juliette. It’s absolutely ridiculous that I must tell voters to vote only once. But the President’s reckless directive to NC voters to vote twice must be countered. It’s a daggum felony!
Today, my colleagues & I fought in SCOTUS to uphold the ACA & all of its protections -- for people with pre-existing conditions, for seniors buying medicine, for young people on their parents' insurance, & for people it helps insure. I'm hopeful we'll win.🤞

BREAKING: The NC Department of Justice will not move to have the injunction lifted in Bryant v. Woodall. My office will not take action that would restrict women’s ability to make their own reproductive health care decisions. 1/2
BREAKING: A big win for equality in NC! All people are equal no matter if you are straight or gay. Today, the NC Court of Appeals recognized that truth and that the NC and US constitutions guarantee it. 1/
I support women’s reproductive freedoms. After a thorough review of the case in Planned Parenthood v. Stein, I have concluded that many of the provisions in North Carolina’s anti-abortion law are unconstitutional. My office will not defend those parts of the law.
"Male chauvinist pig.” That's what my opponent,
@markrobinsonNC
, proudly calls himself. He's built his platform on hatred and vitriol — and he's made it clear that he won't stop. We MUST defeat him this November.
To the women of NC, know that your right to a safe, legal abortion is protected by state law. As your AG, I will do everything in my power to defend your legal rights and your reproductive freedoms.
No, Mr. President. Our elections officials are drinking water out of a firehose. This mistake in Mecklenburg County affected only a small % voters, and there are protections to ensure no one can vote twice. Please stop spreading disinformation. Our democracy is too important.
📢📢ALERT📢📢
Someone is making illegal robocalls into NC spreading misinformation about Election Day. DO NOT LISTEN to these robocall voicemails! They want to steal your vote. Don't let them. Today is your last chance to vote. We have 3 hours left – let’s

BREAKING: Big news from the NC Supreme Court on Leandro public school funding case today -- a win for NC's students & our future! I have long said that we need a good teacher in every classroom & a strong principal in every school. Today I am grateful that the Court agrees. 1/
This kind of talk is ugly and wrong coming from anyone, let alone someone who wants to be Governor. I’ve got nothing but respect for
@Beyonce
. We’d love to have you in NC anytime!
This bill is about controlling women and taking away their freedoms. And they are not done yet. They will keep coming until they completely ban abortion in every instance. We can’t let them. 1/2
President Biden is right: people should not have a federal criminal record for something that is legal in an increasing number of states. I look forward to working with the legislature in the coming months to help move NC forward as well. (1/2)
I am suing the USPS and the Postmaster General so they cannot mess with our election. In NC, you can vote by mail, vote early or on Election Day - just vote.
BREAKING: Attorney General
@JoshStein_
today sued the United States Postal Service and the Postmaster General to reverse the Postal Service’s operational changes delaying mail delivery and ensure North Carolinians who vote by mail have their vote counted.
BREAKING re: mail-in ballot litigation in NC: The State Board, the legislators & RNC agree that the cure process for absentee ballots can move forward. My office has notified the Court, & county boards are resuming cure process to make sure every eligible vote counts.

Democrats can win in the South.
Let me say that again: Democrats can WIN in the South.
A big congrats to
@AndyBeshearKY
on last night’s victory—I know you’ll keep doing right by Kentucky.
BREAKING: As of early Friday afternoon, more than 1 million NCians have voted! This represents approximately 20% of the total electorate from 2016 just from absentee ballots & only 1 1/2 days of early voting. Incredible excitement. 15 more days of early voting to go!

BREAKING: Tez Walker can play. I wrote the NCAA last week to demand that it reconsider its unfair decision. I am gratified that it has listened, and I wish this young man nothing but the best.
This is great news for North Carolina and the country. Dr. Mandy Cohen's leadership during her time as Secretary of
@ncdhhs
demonstrated that she is more than qualified and committed to keeping people safe. Congratulations!
BREAKING: Big win in our recent multi-state census case. 3-judge panel rules that Trump's Presidential Memo directing Census Bureau to exclude some people from the census count is unlawful and enjoined.
BREAKING: A massive win in our fight against the climate crisis. Today, the DC Court of Appeals struck down the Trump Admnstration's 2019 repeal of the Clean Power Plan. It would have allowed more greenhouse gas emissions from electric power plants. Really proud of our coalition.
The “simple and commonsense change” approved by the state court to extend the deadline from 3 days to 9 days does not change voters’ obligations — all ballots must still be mailed on or before Election Day. But it recognizes the reality of an overburdened postal service. 2/
Minimum wage increased yesterday for nearly half of all U.S. states: AK, AZ, CA, CO, CT, DE, HI, IL, ME, MD, MI, MN, MI, MO, NB, NJ, NY, OH, RI, SD, VT, WA, and Washington, DC.
Under our constitution, political power must be “vested in and derived from the people” & our government must be “founded upon their will only." Our elected leaders flout that principle when they seek to perpetuate their power irrespective of the will of the voters.
We won! Since Election Day, we've added more than 3,000 provisional and mail-in votes to our margin, which now stands at 13,809 -- greater than the threshold for a recount. 1/
It's no surprise that the political party making unpopular decisions like banning abortion and defunding our public schools doesn't want to be held accountable in the next election. This bill is a naked power grab and an attack on our democracy.
Our gvt. must be of, by, & for the people, not of, by, & for one political party. That's why the voters should choose their representatives, not the other way around. Partisan gerrymandering is offensive to democracy; it's also contrary to our fundamental constitutional rights.
My dad helped start North Carolina’s first integrated law firm.
He and his partners won landmark civil rights cases — even when it was hard.
They taught me that our state prospers when we all come together to fight for what’s right.
As Governor, I’ll do everything in my power…
It’s official! I just filed as a candidate to become North Carolina's next Governor. I couldn't be more proud of the team we’re building—and I can't thank you all enough for your support.
This week, I traveled to Greensboro, Fayetteville, Winston-Salem, Hendersonville, Wilmington, and Asheville to talk to North Carolinians.
My opponent, Mark Robinson, was 700 miles away in Mar-a-Lago cozying up to Donald Trump.
I'll always put North Carolina first.
It’s time for NC to move forward on medical cannabis, decriminalization of simple possession, and expungement of criminal records. Let's act but let's get it right - including strong protections for kids, no advertising, state controlled sales, and putting NC farmers first.
The
#ACA
is the cornerstone of our healthcare system, with patient protections and essential health benefits that raised the quality of care for millions of Americans.
Tomorrow, we’re fighting to save these protections and

.
My opponent’s heated language is ridiculous.
Teachers work hard and deserve our respect and better pay—and our kids are counting on us to teach them the knowledge they need to succeed, whether starting college or a career.
That includes science and social studies.
Mark Robinson, the leading Republican candidate for Governor of North Carolina, said that public school teachers are “wicked people.”
He added that if he’s in charge, he will stop elementary school students from being taught science and social studies.
🔗
My opponent
@markrobinsonNC
told people to "stand up and fight" the FBI and has said he'd use AR-15s if the "government gets too big for its britches" to "fill the backside of them britches with some lead."
His rhetoric is dangerous — and it's a direct threat to law enforcement.
Did a story for NPR this week on Mark Robinson's run for governor, for folks outside NC who haven't followed the race. Includes a new speech comment about the FBI from a fundraiser this week

🚨 🚨 🚨
*Pres. Trump admitted to trying starve USPS of $ so it can’t deliver absentee ballots.
*His political appointee/donor is actively undermining timely mail delivery.
*USPS just warned NC about ballot delays.
I am reviewing all legal options to protect this election.
If you think what happened in Texas couldn’t happen in NC, you’re not paying attention. Mark Robinson wants to enact a total ban on abortion in NC. We must defend women’s reproductive freedoms and defeat him.
Mark Robinson just announced he’s running for Governor. Robinson is wrong for North Carolina. Together, we can make NC safer and stronger. Join us and chip in today:
Republican leaders in NC are lying about the State Board of Election's consent decree to create mistrust in our elections. That’s disgraceful & un-American. They should care more about helping people stay safe, healthy, & have their vote count than trying to maintain power. 1/
I believe in the promise of North Carolina.
I believe that if you work hard, where you come from should never limit how far you can go.
I believe that our children and grandchildren should enjoy a better and brighter future than we’ve had.
I believe that everyone should have a…
Mark Robinson is not alone. Michele Morrow, the Republican candidate for State School Superintendent, is also a conspiracy theorist with a history of "deranged" posts. NC, we are better than this.
Thank you,
@RoyCooperNC
! I've always been honored to work side by side with you for a safer and stronger North Carolina—and I'm immensely grateful to have your support in this race. Let’s win!
Today, I’m excited to endorse
@JoshStein_
to be the next Governor of North Carolina. Term limits prevent me from running again, but I know Josh is the right choice to double down on the progress we’ve made.
My opponent
@MarkRobinsonNC
has called public educators "wicked people" — and he's threatened to further strip public schools of their funding.
Public schools are too important. We cannot let him be North Carolina's next Governor.
🚨🚨🚨BREAKING: Today, I sued Facebook - a monopoly - for burying competition and stifling innovation at the expense of the millions of people who use its platform. NCians deserve better – they deserve choice, privacy and better services. That's what I am fighting for.
Students are the key to a strong future for North Carolina. It's why I've made sure their voices are centered in this campaign — and it's why I'll do the same as Governor.
Thank you to North Carolina for showing up for this campaign. We have a tough fight ahead of us — and the stakes couldn’t be any higher. But together, I know we can protect our governorship this November and deliver for the people of North Carolina.
Don't be mistaken: Reproductive freedom is on the ballot here in North Carolina. What just happened in Arizona could happen here if my opponent,
@markrobinsonNC
, is elected. He's said he wants to enact a TOTAL ban on abortion — and it’s on us to stop him.
... and all is calm now. I reached out to the State Board of Elections and was informed that the events appear not to have impacted voting at the early voting location. The site there was calm, and the voters got in line and voted. 2/
Thank you, North Carolina.
I'm honored to earn your support, and I am more committed than ever to fighting for all North Carolinians in the U.S. Senate.
Now, let's make history and win in November.
I'm running to be North Carolina's next Governor because I love this state and the people who live here. We have big hearts—and we deserve elected officials who reflect our shared values.
