I’m thrilled and honoured to have been selected as Labour’s parliamentary candidate for Hertsmere.
Thank you so much to local members for your support - I won’t let you down.
The work to unseat the Deputy Prime Minister starts now!
I’m so honoured to have been selected as a
@UKLabour
candidate for Edgwarebury ward.
I’ve lived in the heart of the ward all my life - so I can’t wait to work with Nila Patel and the
@BarnetLabour
team so that we can win the ward and win Barnet. Time to get to work!
Tomorrow is Election Day.
It would be an absolute honour to represent the place I’ve called home since I was born.
Time to turn Edgwarebury and Barnet red!
The Tories have driven our country into the ground and they’ve taken voters for granted for too long.
Having grown up in Hertsmere, I know it deserves better. That’s why I’m standing to be Labour’s candidate to take on Oliver Dowden.

Great to be out in Radlett speaking to residents this evening.
It’s clear that people are ready for change.
Hertsmere deserves better - and as its Labour MP, I’ll stand up for every resident in our constituency.
The last couple of days have been bittersweet. Firstly, I want to say how proud I am of all my friends and fellow Labour candidates who’ve been elected across Barnet, in what’s been an incredible landslide victory for
@BarnetLabour
.
Fantastic to join residents, the Mayor of Hertsmere and
@HertsLabourUK
yesterday for the launch of the new 84B bus, reconnecting the link between Potters Bar and Barnet.
Labour in action, making a real difference that will have a hugely positive impact on the community.
Great to be at
@JewishLabour
conference today - brilliant sessions and interesting discussions, and fantastic to see so many friends.
Huge thanks to all involved!
Huge thanks to Shadow Environment Minister
@alexsobel
for joining us on the doorstep in Edgwarebury this evening!
It was great to walk and talk with residents in Stoneyfields Park, which has been neglected for too long. A Labour Council will invest in our parks & green spaces.
EXCLUSIVE: Luciana Berger has rejoined the Labour Party.
Keir Starmer says sorry for “disgusting abuse” under Jeremy Corbyn and praises “brave” decision to leave over antisemitism.
Berger vows to help “continue what you have started” and beat the Tories.
Really excited to have been elected as Comms Officer for
@HendonLabour
CLP at this afternoon’s AGM.
Can’t wait to get stuck in and work with the rest of the brilliant Executive Committee!
Wonderful and busy weekend out in Borehamwood.
A community litter-pick with The Rotary Club followed by an encouraging campaign kick off, speaking to residents about what matters most in the area.
Feeling inspired by the energy and appetite for change!
Today marks 40 years since Terry Higgins passed away. It’s a moment to reflect on his legacy, and I’m proud to support
@THTorguk
.
Please support
@THTorguk
to commemorate Terry and show support for people impacted by HIV.

What a great day on the doorstep in Edgwarebury, joined by so many
@BarnetLabour
friends working to turn Barnet red 🌹
Residents are more ready than ever for active councillors who’ll deliver for the community.
If you want to help us win this marginal ward, please get in touch!
Great to be back out chatting to Borehamwood residents this week - and delighted to be joined by our fantastic PCC candidate
@ThomasPlater
.
Looking forward to getting Tom elected and working together to make our streets safer for people across Hertsmere.
Brilliant to be out on the doorstep chatting to residents in Whetstone this afternoon for
@ChippingLabour
.
They couldn’t be clearer about their desire for change. People have had enough of this disastrous Conservative Government.
Last week I had the pleasure of joining the wonderful community at the
@ICEdgware
for their Iftar.
It was great to share the evening with such a warm and welcoming community.
Huge thanks for having me!
Brilliant to be out in Bushey this week!
So many interesting and heartening conversations on the doorstep - it’s absolutely clear that people are fed up with the government.
As our Labour MP, I’ll bring about the change we desperately need.
A Great evening out listening to residents in Bushey for
@JoshDTapper
and the team!
We’ve heard from nearly everyone we’ve spoken to this evening that Bushey will be voting Labour at the next General Election.
Despite the Lib Dem
#Bushey
dominance locally, folk are very aware
Loved being out on the doorstep in Edgwarebury today speaking with residents!
Glad to have so many people signing our petition asking
@BarnetCouncil
to finally give Stoneyfields Park the attention it deserves.
Thanks so much to the fantastic
@wesstreeting
for joining us on the doorstep in Edgwarebury this morning!
Residents are truly tired and fed up of the Conservative Council in Barnet.
The area is ready for a Labour Council who’ll listen, work with them, and deliver.
Out in Edgware this morning with
@BarnetLabour
candidates
@JoshDTapper
and Nila Patel, my good mate
@DavidPintoD
and local members.
Barnet has a truly terrible Tory Council.
Let’s hope we get a Labour Council in May and a Labour MP for Hendon at the next election!
While the Tories continue to tear themselves apart, we’ve never been more in need of a more serious government in touch with the realities people are facing across the country
NEW: Kwasi Kwarteng has been overheard declaring that Liz Truss’s chances of survival are “only 40-60”.
One of many sumptuous detail in
@ShippersUnbound
’s read online now:
It was great to be at the fantastic, vibrant Romanian Festival in Borehamwood over the weekend.
The Romanian community make up such an important and valuable part of Hertsmere and beyond, with a strong commitment to community cohesion.
Already looking forward to returning!
Today
@Keir_Starmer
set out Labour’s first steps for change.
Fully costed, fully funded and ready to go - Labour is ready to make a real, practical difference to the lives of people across Hertsmere and beyond.
I met so many incredible residents throughout our time campaigning over the past 6 months, and it’s been an absolute pleasure. I hope they eventually get the representation they deserve.
Onwards and upwards - time for a Council in Barnet that will finally deliver!
Great to be out speaking to residents in Edgwarebury earlier this week with
@HendonLabour
.
People are rightly concerned about the terrible state of the roads and pavements, and want
@BarnetCouncil
to reverse years of neglect of the local park, Stoneyfields.
It was great to see Barnet and Camden’s Assembly Member
@anne_clarke
in Edgware and Hale over the weekend. I was able to show her the state of the roads and the neglect of one of our local parks.
It’s time for
@BarnetCouncil
to step up for local people.
Wishing all fantastic
@HertsLabourUK
candidates the best of luck tomorrow after a positive, hard-fought, ambitious campaign.
If you want to see a brighter future for Hertsmere that puts residents first, use all your votes for Labour tomorrow.
It’s the start of a new era in Hertsmere! Historic result thanks to an incredible campaign from councillors, candidates, and a fantastic organiser
@GuyLucasBhana
. Residents have voted for the change they deserve.
Huge congratulations to the fab new Labour Group
@HertsLabourUK
!
Humbled to have joined Radlett United Synagogue for their Yom HaShoah remembrance evening last night.
The involvement of so many local young people was inspiring. Keeping the memory alive for future generations has never been more important.
Never again.
Hertsmere is one of the worst affected areas for mortgage rises, with households paying £355 more per month.
Hertsmere residents are paying the price for Tory carelessness.
It’s time for change that brings economic stability and eases the cost of living.
Theresa Villiers calls for Johnson’s resignation 20 mins after reports confirm he already will, while Offord only just spoke out against Government conduct in the Commons.
Shameful and meaningless. Johnson was supported and enabled by these MPs and others every step of the way.
1997 is the closest we’ve ever gotten to winning in Hertsmere. That's why I'm delighted to have the backing of Beth - our formidable candidate at that election.
Thank you, Beth!
Another brilliant weekend on the doorstep in Edgwarebury. Residents deserve councillors who work year on year, not just at election time.
If you want to help us turn Edgwarebury and Barnet red, join us on Sunday for the
@JewishLabour
Action Day! 👇
Great to chat to
@MattChorley
on
@TimesRadio
today about why we need greater representation in Parliament of people with different educational backgrounds.
You can catch the full interview here:
Oliver Dowden once again out of his depth and way off the mark, refusing to call racism for what it is.
A failure to expect decent standards from colleagues, and exemplifying the weak leadership that‘s got hold of the Conservative Party.
It really is time for change.
“I don’t believe Lee Anderson said those remarks intending to be Islamophobic”
Deputy PM Oliver Dowden says it was right to suspend the former Conservative deputy chair from the party because an apology “wasn’t forthcoming”
#BBCLauraK
For the first time in Barnet’s history, we have a Labour majority council, who are absolutely committed to putting residents first. With a strong plan for the Borough, I can’t wait to see them get to work.
But I’m full of sadness that we didn’t get elected in Edgwarebury ward.
I’m incredibly proud of the campaign we ran - a positive, grassroots campaign which embodied the best of the community, and engaged with residents day after day and week after week over the past year.
Standing with teachers today and always. Our schools and education system are in crisis under the watch of successive Conservative governments.
Teachers consistently go above and beyond - and they deserve a much better deal than the one they’re getting.
It was incredibly close, having lost by only 42 votes, and I’m truly gutted that Nila and I won’t have the chance to represent the brilliant people in this ward this time round.
But I know that at least with a Labour-led council, they will be in good hands.
Great to be getting the vote out in Hertsmere today!
Don’t forget to use all your votes for Labour and take your photo ID with you to the polling station 🌹
Went for a walk earlier in Edgware’s natural gem, Stoneyfields Park. It’s a shame to see it neglected like this.
Local residents are rightly concerned about broken fences, a lack of street lighting, vandalised park benches etc.
@BarnetCouncil
when is this going to be sorted?
I’m remembering the 6 million Jewish men, women and children and all those who were murdered by the Nazis.
It’s never been more important to listen to survivors’ stories. We must never forget, and always stand up against hatred wherever we find it.
#HolocaustMemorialDay
Never be complacent. Change only comes if you vote for it.
If there’s an election where you are today, vote Labour in the next couple of hours before it’s too late - to stop the chaos, turn the page, and start to bring practical change to our communities. 🗳️🌹
Words have consequences. It’s high time that the Prime Minister takes some actual responsibility, withdraws his previous remarks and apologises.
Will the three Conservative MPs in Barnet finally speak out and ask him to apologise?
The behaviour directed at the Leader of the Opposition tonight is absolutely disgraceful. All forms of harassment of our elected representatives are completely unacceptable.
I thank the police for responding swiftly.
Thank you so much to all the amazing people who supported the campaign - from canvassing to delivering leaflets to the effective organisation. There are too many people to name, but you know who you are.
And a huge thank you to all of those who voted for us.
Commiserations and huge thanks to
@LouisTrup
for running a great and comradely campaign.
Louis is the best of the Labour movement, and I’m looking forward to working together to secure a Labour gain!
A great and busy weekend - from a productive litter pick in Stoneyfields Park to a fab day out on the doorstep speaking to residents in Edgwarebury.
The area is ready for change - and residents want hardworking Councillors who’ll listen, work with them, and deliver.
Looking after the environment is essential to living healthy lives and building thriving communities. But the Tories still haven’t got a grip on tackling the sewage scandal.
Good to discuss this and other important stories on
@TalkTV
this morning.
Huge congratulations to
@Dan4Barnet
for being selected as Labour’s parliamentary candidate for Chipping, and commiserations to
@EmmaWhysall
.
Looking forward to getting out on the doorstep for Dan and turning Chipping Barnet red!
Congratulations to
@DavidPintoD
, selected today as our Parliamentary Candidate for the next General Election.
"It's time for a Labour government we can all be proud of."
At PMQs yesterday, Oliver Dowden was unable to defend the Tories’ record in government - downplaying the impact the cost of living and NHS waiting lists are having on people in his constituency and across the UK.
Good to discuss this and other issues on
@TalkTV
this morning.
Last week I asked Hertsmere Council about the true state of the local housing crisis.
It’s clear that the Tories, nationally and locally, have failed to meet the needs of local people.
It’s time for a Labour government and local MP committed to building more affordable housing.
At Wednesday's Full Council Meeting,
@Jeremy_Newmark
addressed
@JoshDTapper
’s question on the UK housing crisis. The dire situation after years of Tory administrations, locally and nationally, demands urgent action.
Watch the response below. 🏠💬
Raising a glass to the 84B bus!
Labour & Coop Councillors in Potters Bar promised, and they have delivered.
Huge thanks for all the work of Portfolio Holder,
@NikOakley
, for bringing this to fruition so quickly, in time for the school’s return.
An election pledge fulfilled.
A great evening getting the vote out for the brilliant
@DannyBeales
in Uxbridge and South Ruislip.
People are so ready for change. Fingers crossed for a night of Labour gains! 🌹
Come rain or shine, we’re out on the doorstep talking to residents!
Fantastic morning with a warm welcome in our very own Cuffley - and a great afternoon joining friends on the doorstep in Harlow ahead of Thursday’s election.
Hot off a door knocking session in Hertsmere’s villages today our Parliamentary candidate,
@JoshDTapper
, headed across to lend Chris and the team a hand in Harlow.
There are some incredibly important local elections in Harlow this week. We wish our friends in the constituency
Humbled to attend moving services in Borehamwood across the weekend to remember the service and sacrifice of all those who fought for our freedoms.
We will remember them.
"I'm supportive of any incentive for people to live more healthy lifestyles."
@JoshDTapper
thinks Wolverhampton's new voucher incentive for weight loss is a good idea.
But he adds: "There's a lot of gaps. This doesn't help children that are obese or overweight."
#JeremyVine
One of the most dedicated and hardworking people I know,
@CJMyers1977
has shown what a fresh, community-minded mayoralty can do for the Borough.
Hertsmere Labour wouldn't be the same without Chris, and I'm honoured to have his support!
Another 5 years of the Tories could see NHS waiting lists hit 10mn.
Hertsmere residents tell me time and again that they’re ready for a government that’s serious about patients getting treated on time.
Labour has a plan to get the NHS back on its feet.
Can’t stop thinking about friends and family in Israel and all innocent civilians in the region - overwhelmed with devastation.
Reflecting on Labour conference, I feel relief that Labour is back where it once was, standing steadfast with Israel and the Jewish community.
Just like the last 14 years, the Budget proved that the Tories have nothing to offer to ease living standards for families across Hertsmere.
Oliver Dowden has continued to be a part of these disastrous governments, one after the other.
Hertsmere deserves so much better.
#Budget2024
has hit us hard with the highest tax burden in 70 years! 📈
For every £5 handed out by the Conservatives, they're snatching £10 back through tax hikes and service cuts. ✂️
⏱️ It's crystal clear:
Time for a General Election. Time for Change. Time for Labour! 💪

@BarnetLabour
It was great campaigning with Helen in Potters Bar during last year's local election.
Really excited to have the support of someone who knows very well how to turn a Tory stronghold into a Labour gain!
The behaviour of P&O Ferries is a disgrace. It’s absolutely no way to treat workers.
Yet more evidence of why we so desperately need strengthened employment rights in the UK.
There are too many families still vulnerable to no-fault evictions in Hertsmere and across the UK, years after the Tories promised a ban.
It’s time for real action to support and give certainty to renters - by ending no-fault evictions and putting in place a Renters’ Charter.
“Labour has been calling for an end to no-fault evictions for years – but the Conservatives have failed to act leaving Hertsmere’s 6824 private renters at risk." -

Very moving service at the Edgware War Memorial this morning to mark Remembrance Sunday.
We remember the members of our Armed Forces who have kept us safe through their service and sacrifice.

Not only is
@CllrRButler
a fantastic Leader of Elstree & Borehamwood Town Council, but he's the longest-serving Labour councillor in Hertsmere and was a top parliamentary candidate in 2015.
That's why I'm beyond delighted to have his support!

What an uplifting and emotional atmosphere at the peaceful march against antisemitism today.
Proud to have joined over 100,000 to stand against hate - and heartwarming to have seen so many there standing in solidarity with our community.
Great to campaign for the brilliant
@DannyBeales
in Uxbridge and South Ruislip over the last couple of weekends.
It’s clear that people have had enough of a Conservative Government and are ready for change with Labour.
Chag Sameach to all celebrating Pesach!
This year is different as we think and hope for the return of the hostages in Gaza and an end to the conflict in the Middle East.
Wishing all who celebrate across our community a happy and meaningful Passover.
Despite not being the best result for the Wood Army, it was great to be at the game yesterday.
Electric atmosphere at Meadow Park, and I’ve no doubt the team will come back stronger next season.
Barnet Council Leader, Cllr Barry Rawlings, led a ground-breaking ceremony for 217 new affordable homes including 75 extra care homes in Hendon last week, Tuesday 12 July:
On Holocaust Memorial Day, I’m remembering the 6 million Jews murdered and all the victims of Nazi persecution in one of the darkest chapters of our history.
This year is especially pertinent. It’s never been more important to say the words ‘Never Again’ and truly live by it.
Incredibly moving vigil for the hostages in Borehamwood this morning, joined by the Chief Rabbi.
More than 120 hostages are still being held by Hamas. Bring Them Home.
