Throughout my career, I've gone to bat for reproductive freedom, commonsense gun safety legislation, and safer communities. In Congress, I'll do the same.
Serious question, Superintendent Salmon: how do you justify getting a vaccine and then tell thousands of Maryland teachers they need to go back to in-person instruction without having one themselves?
As a local leader, you feel tragedies like the Key Bridge collapse in a very personal way.
In these moments, I am grateful for a
@POTUS
who is resolute in his support to open the port, rebuild the bridge, and support our families.
This morning, I spoke with Governor Moore, Mayor Scott, and County Executive Olszewski.
I made clear that we'll send any federal resource they need as we respond to the collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge and rebuild together.
Thank you
@POTUS
and
@SecretaryPete
for personally reaching out — and for your unwavering commitment to the entire Baltimore region as we respond to this tragedy.
This morning, I convened senior members of my team for a briefing on the collapse of Baltimore's Francis Scott Key Bridge.
I've directed my Administration to ensure every federal resource is available to assist search and rescue efforts and response to this terrible incident.
I am aware of the situation at the Key Bridge and remain in regular communication with my Fire Chief and Director of Emergency Operations.
I’m also in contact w/ the Mayor of Baltimore and the Anne Arundel Co. Exec.
Rescue efforts are underway. Please pray for those impacted.
I am excited to announce that I’m officially running for Maryland’s 2nd Congressional District!
As a public school teacher, a state legislator, and as Baltimore County Executive, I’m proud to have dedicated my life to serving our communities.
Thank you, Baltimore County, for believing in our shared vision for what’s possible. I’m so grateful for every vote, every volunteer, and every supporter who invested in our campaign.
Together, we will build a
#betterBaltimoreCounty
.
Gov. Hogan was apparently too busy voting for a dead president to not let Baltimore officials know about his stadium reopening plans.

When I ran for County Executive, we set a bold vision for a
#BetterBaltimoreCounty
.
In just a few years, we've proven together that transformative change is possible. But there is still more to be done.
That's why I'm excited to announce I will be seeking re-election in 2022:
In Baltimore County, the legislature is expected to ban plastic bags & charge consumers to use paper bags.
Who would do such a thing with record high inflation numbers? Democrats.
Call your councilman &
@JohnnyOJr
to fight the war on your wallet.
Balt County Exec- 410-887-2450
So
@DoorDash
and
@UberEats
have millions of dollars for
#SuperBowl
commercials, high profile celebs, and to give cash in support of local restaurants?
Maybe a better way to support local establishments would be to take less in fees from the places they claim to support? 🤷♂️
You would think.. but,
@GovLarryHogan
&
@JohnnyOJr
would rather you tattle on your neighbors for enjoying time with their family. I wonder how many died in nursing homes this year wishing they could say goodbye to their children in person?
Forget the homicides.

Today we said goodbye to our feisty, friendly and furry kid. Indy, thank you for 17 amazing years. Our lives have have been so much more full because we shared them with you. Rest easy our sweet girl. 💔
Headed to The White House, where I’ll be joining leaders from across Maryland for dialogue with WH and Cabinet leaders on how we’re leveraging federal investments to build a better Baltimore County, Maryland and America 🇺🇸.
It's official: I'm on the ballot for U.S. Congress in Maryland's 2nd Congressional District! I look forward to speaking with voters across the district and to earning your support on May 14th.
Dear
@JoeBiden
: There would be no finer pick than Freeman Hrabowski to be the next U.S. Secretary of Education. While we would miss him dearly at
@UMBC
and in
@BaltCoGov
, we know he would do so much good for so many people.
College of Education alumnus Freeman Hrabowski III and our very own Chancellor Robert Jones have been identified as potential picks for President elect Joe Biden's new U.S. Secretary of Education.
Proud to meet Omer Reshid, a Pikesville High student who was elected by his peers to serve as the next student member of the school board. He just enrolled in summer classes at CCBC. It’s our young leaders like Omer who will build a great future for our county. Best of luck Omer!
Allegheny County Executive gave us this answer when we asked for his reaction to Senator Cruz’s statement about the Paris Climate Accord not helping our area.
@KDKA
I was proud to stand alongside - and pray alongside - the Islamic Society of Baltimore today.
Together, we will stand up to hate in Baltimore County and beyond.
Mr. President - the data and science now is clear. Masks save lives and can help keep business open. On
@ABC
tonight, you failed a most basic test of leadership when asked on your position.
Stop making excuses, start requiring mask usage

institution. As we respond to

, drive-ins are a common-sense way to provide needed relief while promoting public health practices. While the state has closed all movie theatres, we’re doing all we can to help Bengies safely reopen ASAP.
In 2018, I won my race for County Executive by 17 votes out of almost 90,000 cast. Normally I use that fact to remind people that every vote matter. And it does.
Today, I’m proud to announce Melissa Hyatt as my nominee to serve as Baltimore County’s next police chief.
I have the utmost confidence in Chief Hyatt to lead a community-driven police force that makes our county a safer place to live, work, and visit.
We are proud that Baltimore County is showing how local government can make tuition-free community college a reality by investing in our most important asset: our people. It’s time for all of Maryland — and the country — to do the same.
It’s hard to believe that this is our reality.
But don’t despair, organize. Call. Donate. We need to make sure there’s no question
@JoeBiden
is the next President and send
@realDonaldTrump
packing after the November elections.
“In our view, there is no contest. Mr. Olszewski is the right leader to usher in a new era for Baltimore County... Mr. Olszewski knows where Baltimore County has been, where it is now and where it needs to go. He is our choice for county executive.”
Today is really go time! We couldn’t be more excited to cheer on our

today in matchup for a ticket to the

!
Let’s show up and show out today, Ravens Nation!

The Georgia runoff elections are about the future and what the first two years of President-elect Biden’s term will look like. I urge Georgians to uphold America’s mandate for moderation and compromise by voting for David Perdue and Kelly Loeffler.
Daria last night: “Daddy, I’m going to be a ballerina when I grow up. What are YOU going to be when you grow up?”
Me: “Well sweetie, in 33 days I hope to be a county executive.”
Daria: “That sounds nice, daddy...”
Welcome to the CE club,
@jessfitzwater
- proud to call you my friend and excited to see what a fellow educator will do for the people of
@FrederickCoMD
in the years ahead!
I remain humbled by the surge of support we’ve seen, and I’m so thankful to all of the volunteers and fellows who believed in our shared vision and worked tirelessly to work toward a better Baltimore County.
Let’s do this 💪
For all of its challenges and disfunction, Washington needs more local executives in its ranks- people who get things done. It also needs a new generation of leadership- leaders with fresh ideas and diverse experiences.
@AlsobrooksForMD
is that kind of leader.
A new day, a new endorsement! 🎉
From one County Exec. to another, thank you
@JohnnyOJr
for supporting my campaign for U.S. Senate. Let’s keep uplifting Maryland families together.
Election officials declared former Del. Johnny Olszewski Jr. the winner of the Democratic nomination for Baltimore County executive — by a mere nine votes.
I feel fortunate to report that I continue feeling fine after testing positive for
#COVID19
. Vaccines are safe and from personal experience I can report they are also effective.
Thanks to everyone who has reached out to wish me well. I am so grateful.
Thank you
@VP
for visiting Baltimore today, for your remarks pushing us towards an “aspirational America,” 🇺🇸 and for providing me and Marisa feedback directly to Daria that she never needs permission to lead 🙌
As a former teacher, my years in the classroom will always drive my decisions for our students and our communities.
This afternoon, I joined Superintendent
@VerlettaWhite
to visit
@CatonsvilleMS
.
Thanks to Principal Elmendorf and everyone at Catonsville Middle for having us!
#Regionalism
alert 🚨
As crews continue to work hard to clear our streets,
@BmoreCityDOT
and
@BaltCoGov
DPW teams are partnering to go beyond regional boundaries and clear streets past city/county lines.
Thanks to
@MayorBMScott
for his partnership on this effort.
Minnesota Governor Tim Walz has signed a law guaranteeing free breakfast and lunch for all students in the state, regardless of how much money their parents make. Tens of thousands of food-insecure kids will benefit.
On behalf of Baltimore County, I offer my deepest condolences to the Busch family. They remain in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
@SpeakerBusch
was a friend, mentor, & leader. His legacy as a dedicated public servant to all of MD will live on for generations
Thank you for 14 amazing years of marriage,
@mjolszewski
!
Happiest of anniversaries to my partner and best friend. Thank you for always supporting, pushing and encouraging me in all I do. Love you!
If only you knew a US Senator who could help lead a national, bi-partisan redistricting reform effort to address maps in “blue” Maryland and in Republican-lead states like Texas.
The enormity of making the possible real begins today. And I am honored to be your Baltimore County Executive as we start this journey towards our county’s future.
#BaltCoInaug18
All our prayers are with my friend
@jamie_raskin
and his family following his diagnosis. A fierce defender of our democracy and an inspiration for all Marylanders, we wish him a complete and speedy recovery.
We have lots of great holiday traditions in Baltimore County, but a visit to 34th Street in Hampden is always a crowd pleaser- glad to be able to spend some time with the family there tonight!
One year ago, we made history. Every day, I’m so humbled to have earned your support, and every day, I’ll continue striving to keep it. I’m honored to serve as your county executive, and I’m looking forward to making more progress and building a better Baltimore County with you.
Later today, I'll be joining
@BaltCoRec
to munch on cicadas. The menu includes lemon pepper and
@OLDBAYSeasoning
pan fried cicadas, topped off with a chocolate cicada cookie for dessert. 😎🍪
Today, I’m grateful for the health of my family, my neighbors and friends; for all of the essential workers who have risked their own health and lives to help us weather this storm; for Baltimore County employees and their dedicated service to residents with unwavering resolve...
On a call with area Baltimore County Hospitals, leaders confirmed what the numbers clearly tell us —
#COVID19
hospitalizations and serious cases are OVERWHELMINGLY among the unvaccinated.
With formal
@US_FDA
approval, the message cannot be more clear: get your vaccine.
Happy
#FathersDay
to a man who taught me that we don’t just have an opportunity to care for others, but an obligation. A guy who worked double and triple shifts at the Port to make sure his kids could have every opportunity and pursue their dreams.
Senior, we love you!

For 40 years in public service, my friend and mentor
@Call_Me_Dutch
has been an unwavering force for good across the Baltimore region, throughout Maryland, and across the country.
Thank you for all your service.
Over the past few days, an increasingly far-right SCOTUS has demonstrated a blatant disregard for our LGBTQ+ community, for students of all races and creeds, and for millions of Americans looking for relief from too often crippling student loan debt. We all deserve better.
