I got a flat tire on my way to take Step 2.
In the midst of panicking, the universe sent me an angel.
Alison, a woman I went up to crying that my car was stuck, changed my tire for me while I was taking my exam and left me this for when I got out.
Forever grateful๐ฅน๐

Is it bad to say that I want to work with Latinx community when Iโm a doc? Got odd feedback that saying that means I donโt want to treat others (which is totally not true)- I just want to build the skill to provide care in Spanish w underserved pop

I got my first tattoo- a small one that can be covered up with a watch but one that reminds me that i am the sun โ๏ธ and with 8 rays to represent the proverb โfall down 7 times, get up 8โ (& a nod to my peruvian heritage - Inti, the god of sun)

, FM is an amazing field to consider.
I fell in love with FM bc of the countless opportunities-Inpatient/Outpatient, Addiction Med, EM, Peds, Psych, OBGYN, Sports Med, Palliative Med and SO much more!
You can take your career in any direction!

I knew I could do it. My family knew I could do it.
The institutions did not.

๐งตThere is so much good in the world
This morning I was on my way to take Step 2 of the USMLE, an exam Iโve been studying for months for, and my car got a flat tire. I was 3 miles away from the testing center (which was 5 hours away from home)

I had never met a Peruvian woman physician until I sent out a tweet searching for one. How could I, being Peruvian descent and pursuing medicine, never have met anyone like me? It's time for that to change๐ต๐ช

At 27 years old, I was rejected from every medical school I applied to AGAIN. I could not overcome the grades I made when I was 18.

What about the dress code again?
This is shameful, and this statement is the ultimate gaslight.
You ought to be ashamed of yourself for stripping this teenager of this moment. Please do a deep dive and understand how your school and itโs policies perpetuate cultural intolerance.
