After today's service, I went to my study to work on a writing project & heard a noise down the hallway. I discovered a church member fervently praying to God, unseen. No urgent request. He was simply praying for God to move. Lord, raise up more like this. Including me.

Today I walked up stairs where my 11-month old was playing on the ground. He saw me, smiled, & then speedily crawled to the corner of the room where there was a basketball. He grabbed it & started to “dribble” it. There are no words to describe how proud I was in that moment.

Accountability partners are an unhelpful mechanism that works against the call of discipleship in Scripture. They function more like police than a partner. Better to be in ongoing discipleship groups than have someone call you once a month.

Preached in CA today. A few years ago the church was 1 mil in the hole & weeks from bankruptcy. But then Southern Baptists. “Southern Baptists are why we’re still here. When we were going under we were not alone.” Today they’re on the verge of planting 15 churches/ministries.
