It’s been a long road & on many occasions I felt alone. Some have said I stood alone, but, that’s not true. My wife @ak_wellman stood w/ me, my church @tatesprings stood w/ me, & many friends stood w/ me. Some put their own names on the line to do so, & I’ll never forget it.

Most of all, the Lord was with me. I’ve felt His presence during all of this. “Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you” (Deut 31:6).

Now, the real work starts. This is not the end, but the beginning. I’m praying for a new day in the @SBCExecComm , one that is less about following political strategy & more about following biblical principles.

It’s time for the EC to get back to serving the Kingdom, supporting our entities, and executing the wishes of the messengers.

This should include deep and meaningful reform in how we address sexual abuse.

This is a historic Convention. Maybe even the most historic. Let’s get it right. #SBC22
