For a number of self-identified progressives, “decolonization” only refers to guilt after the fact (land acknowledgments, days of commemoration, street names). But decolonization necessarily includes violent resistance as a historical response to depravation of colonialism.

Moustapha Akkad was the real Napoleon of film. Directing and producing an English and Arabic version of The Message with two separate casts on the same film set while navigating the politics of making a movie about the Prophet. One of the greatest accomplishments in film history.

Who cares what this or that group invented? Firstly, knowledge production is a wholistic human endeavour. Secondly, human life is inherently sacred outside any individual or identity group’s contribution to “science”, which is also nebulously calculated.
