Poor woman should not have had to make a video like this. Very dignified and classy.
And poor William. Whatever your views on the Royals, he's still someone whose father and wife are very ill.
I hope people give it a rest now.
Been thinking about this year. Had 3 months of double vision caused by diabetes, laser eye surgery, diagnosed with high BP and heart disease. I'd planned to kill myself on my b'day in March. I'm only still here cos of the kindness of people to me this year. Thank you.
Most exciting part of the women's 5000m today
@stevemagness
was the finish beside the triple jumper! Great to see how he conserves momentum through the jump relative to the runners!
Woman of the Year goes to
@JohnsonThompson
who won in Glasgow, is a truly lovely person, and in Doha she put together the performance we dreamed and knew she could deliver.
@Sp0rtz_Fan
@jackpgreen
I'd def go for the footballer option. The kids prob have the kit already and busy parents don't have the time or expense of finding "work" clothes for an 8 year old.
Ordered these banners last week in a moment of madness. They're a bit bigger than I thought and I'm not sure
@BritAthletics
will let me take them into the stands at the trials! ๐ Still, they were fun to do!
Can we all agree that
@WorldAthletics
@Diamond_League
and
@ContiTourGold
providing streams for countries that have no TV coverage has been the very best innovation for the benefit of the fans for a long time?
Just popping in to say, and I can't stress this enough,
@BritAthletics
owe it to the athletes to take the fullest possible team to Torun. Athletes have have overcome so much to excel this week and must be rewarded.
Look, I'm just a daft old poof who's watched athletics for a long time. That any of these athletes stop and say hello in the middle of being dragged to the media centre always amazes me and I'm so grateful. They don't have to do it and they're amazing.
I think I've spoken to more people in the last 3 days than in the past 3 years! Thank you everyone who said hello, and I hope I gave a coherent reply! Meant a lot to me. โค๏ธ
It's been a good month so far. You know, if you keep going, sometimes you get to have great experiences and to meet the most amazing people. Makes it all worthwhile.
Sorry I've been quiet. I thought it was Olympic hangover but it's the clinical depression where you can't move. So I'll be missing for a bit. Enjoy the rest of the season folks x
Sorry not been around much. Struggling quite a bit with PTSD. Lots of flashbacks, intrusive/disturbing thoughts leaves little mental energy and leaving the house is very difficult. Slowly working through it so hopefully normal service will be resumed shortly. Much love everyone x
When I was at school 40 years ago, "girls didn't play football". Seriously. Not even a knockabout in the school playground. And now Beth Mead is Sports Personality of the Year having helped England win the Euros. Just fantastic.
2024 Razorback Invitational
A world-leading 50.56 in the 400m for Amber Anning moves her to No. 10 on the collegiate all-time list, No. 3 British
So far this season, Anning ran 2:05.05 in 800m debut two weeks ago
Then broke British 200m record with a 22.60 yesterday

It may be an athletics cliche but we genuinely ask for nothing more than an athlete comes to a champs and gives their best. I get as excited by the likes of Pratt and Bird as a medal.
Athleticos - we actually get to watch a champs again this weekend! I can hardly believe it! Here's the schedule for the BBC coverage. Starts on Thursday at 6 pm.
British Bests of Budapest:
KJT and Josh Kerr obviously, however:
Ben Pattison's bronze, Morgan Lake's 4th and Molly Caudery's 5th places brought so much joy.
MVP: only one contender - Rio Mitcham.
I have no words. ๐๐๐ But her determination to finish and telling the wheelchair where to go just shows you how strong
@JohnsonThompson
is. She is incredible.
ATHLETICO BINGO
Your completely unofficial bingo card for the next 9 days of the World Champs in Budapest. I am allowing room for literary interpretation and write in candidates. ๐
UKA has NEVER done this for any athlete. I'm actually all for a bit of leeway for defending champs but organising a second trials race feels like a bit much.
I'm so happy for
@adelle_tracey
who finished 4th over 800 in Mt Sac, but clocked a big PB of 1:59.50 which is absolutely spot on the Olympic Q! Congrats Adelle! โจ
I am very much looking forward this weekend to the BBC's many action shots of Gabby, Denise, Jess and Colin enjoying a cuppa and a custard cream whilst reminiscing about Mo Farah and Usain Bolt. Ironically you can see Grant Holloway setting a WR over Colin's shoulder.
First dose of Oxford/AstraZeneca received. A production line that started at the front of the surgery and out the back door. The table of tea and biscuits (for the staff) felt very British. Thank you NHS.
Well, we did it. Actually got out of the house, on a train and not only too an athletics meeting. Wasn't sure I wouldn't run screaming off the train at Crewe. Worth all of it.
Mum died over 19 years ago. A complicated relationship and one I knew I couldn't fix. The only person I know for sure who wanted me, even if she wasn't able to show it. Sending out โค๏ธ to everyone missing their mothers today.
There'll be an inevitable inquest over the athletics in the next week or two but let's celebrate Keely, Holly, Laura, our 4x100m relay teams and Josh and the truly phenomenal athletics we've seen over the last 9 days.
9.83! Zharnel Hughes breaks the British 100m record with his victory at the NYC Grand Prix. ๐ฌ๐ง
๐ธ Love how
@jzsnapz
captured his pure shock when he saw the result pop up.
The previous British record was 9.87 by Linford Christie, which stood for 30 years.
10.87 for
@dinaashersmith
and 10.93 PB for
@daryllneita
๐ฅ๐ญ 40 years of watching and two British women sub 11 in the same race for the first time. Absolute queens the pair of them! ๐
#delayedZurich
I like to think I can call Guy a good friend. The fact he's so upset is equal parts heartbreaking and enraging. That this isn't the first time it's happened to an athlete shows that the selection system needs to be restructured and made transparent.
Guy Learmonth: โI hate this sport and I canโt wait to be done with it. But Iโm not going to quitโ.
In todayโs
@heraldscotland
, I speak exclusively to the 800m runner about his omission from GBโs team for next week World Indoor Champs in Glasgow
Finally finished my Munich Make! A British Athletics kit inspired cardigan. Perfect for keeping you warm at the top of a chilly temporary stand. Please be kinder about it than you were the original. ๐
Dear athletes, you're amazing. You've all been doing challenges today. It must be so frustrating to miss a year when you're not injured. We love you. You do superhuman feats that make us gasp. Stay strong and keep going. We're behind you all the way.
Look. I'm an abuse survivor and I can barely function. I'm not going to project my own stuff onto Simone Biles. Each experience and reaction is different. It fucks with your head in so many ways. To be able to do what she does she's immensely strong. Nothing but respect here.
You might not have been there in person today
@IanTnf
, but you were there in spirit. Lots of people send their best and were keen to know how you are, including:
I simply do not understand turning down a WA invite for an athlete, especially for a home champs, let alone for a Scottish athlete on home soil. Infuriating and mystifying in equal measures.
Gutted for Jake Wightman. So wanted him to get a medal but the pace was just too strong. So much love for him and Geoff who've been far too kind to me. โค๏ธ๐ซ
Prep for Torun:
Duvet for sofa
Snacks and treats - all healthy. Ahem.
Folding table set up as drinks station
Laptop, tablet, phone, tv remote lined up
Coverage guide on separate tab
Exercise bike to maintain circulation
Blanket project for the 3000m ๐
Ben Gregory has taken his first breaths without assistance since being involved in a serious bike crash.
The 31-year-old decathlete has been in a coma since the incident last month.
My first ever knitted cardigan. Finished it this morning. Not exactly fashion forward, and some wonky stitches. But posting to note that I accomplished something in 2020! Hope my mate Jan likes her Xmas present. ๐
It feels right that Maria Lasitskene won gold in the High Jump. Consistently the best in the world for years and a courageous woman. Delighted for her.
A British team of 55 athletes, of whom 15 are going purely for the relays. Don't get me wrong, I love relays and the athletes but it feels a tad unbalanced.
I think that's actually the first time I've seen
@Laviai
&
@LinaFJNielsen
race each other like that! 51.95 PB for Lina. Sub 52! What a pair of utter stars these two are. ๐ฅฐ
