charges me 8800 UGX and tax of 1000+ on every VISA transaction regardless of the amount, in addition to annual 10,000 VISA fees. Rest in peace to all the money I lost in the name of going cashless😂😂😂. Am just officially done with this bank.
Omoro District where I come from does not have a hospital. The highest level facility is Lalogi Health Center 4 where I did my elective from. The district is served by two doctors.

Very sad but I advise my friends in medical schools (who can) to begin preparing for those licensing exams - USMLE, NCLEX, PLAB, KMLB, etc. There are many countries that need and value health workers. Find out how much they cost and start saving. Alternative paths include being…

One day, we will have a honest conversation on the rates of unemployment/underemployment among medical doctors in Uganda.
I have been featured on today's New Vision newspaper

among Uganda's Top 500 scientists. All possible because of meaningful collaborations.
I was randomly given a business class seat today (freely), and if I had money, I would choose it every time. My neighbour was a university provost, a CEO and founder of several companies, and sitting on boards of many too. This kind of networking and inspiration can't be free!
I was humbled to participate in a very stimulating workshop over the past 3 days at Karolinska Institute (Sweden) with the

Whether it has been the practice for decades or not, a shift where a medical doctor works for 36 hours without sleep is very unhealthy and puts the patients at risk of medical errors.
This has to change.
COLORECTAL CANCER (A THREAD)
Pele (82 yrs, RIP) and Chadwick Boseman (43 yrs, RIP) both passed on due to colorectal cancer.
Whereas colorectal ca is a killer in Uganda, few people know about this! About 1,740 people were diagnosed with colorectal cancer in Uganda in 2019 alone.
Congratulations Dr.

. Graduating with 25+ research publications and 10,000+ USD in grants, all as a medical student. It's been amazing working and learning from you. Onto the next...

PRESS RELEASE: All medical interns are expected to report to their various training centers by 3 August 2023.
Gov't will deploy the 1,901 medical interns within the available budget at a net monthly allowance of UGX 1,000,000 per intern to facilitate accomodation and feeding.

Implementation research is a potential solution prior to rolling out such policies.

I long for a time when universities in Uganda and Africa set aside some slots of scholarships for students in need, besides the popular performance-based government scholarships. Let's help Sharon become a medical doctor.
An aspiring medical doctor, Ms Nabwire Sharon needs financial support to complete her medical education at Kabale University. Let’s all support her 🙏🏿. Uganda needs more doctors, the world needs to empower women and girls more and more.

In Uganda, one is not allowed to give an opinion on a legal case (because it belongs to lawyers) but when it comes to health matters, everyone suddenly has a right to give an opinion and the doctor is wrong. HYPOCRISY!
Poor countries are spending a lot of money to train health workers for rich countries. This trend will continue if low-income countries do not appreciate that retention of health workers require an intentional effort to improve their remuneration and work environment.
In the last 8 years, at least 5,600 Nigerian doctors have left for Britain alone, leaving only 24,000 registered doctors for a population of 220 million. Others left for the US, Canada, and Saudi Arabia 1/4

I first came to Kampala in 2005 for an eye surgery at Mengo Hospital. I was more excited about visiting the city, than going back with better vision. I'm truly grateful for the generosity of the funders, who I never got to know. Keep doing great things!

, doctors who graduated in 2022 and have completed internship can't be registered by UMDPC without their degree certificates. The doctors are currently not allowed to practice without you releasing this certificate! When should we expect them?…

Thank you for your concern. I think it shouldn't only be about supporting "suffering resident physicians". It should be about rethinking the system to prevent the "suffering" in the first place. There's already enough evidence on the burden of mental illness among physicians.

1. Maddox Ssematimba is a great musician and one of Uganda's best ever.
2. Dr. Sabrina's story is inspiring and relatable to many.

Antimicrobial resistance has significant regional variations and it's advised local data is used to make decisions. We need a study here showing the same to apply it in Uganda.
