On the drive to work, I was thinking... In the past 4 years, Ithaca pubs (non-student) produced three statehouse reporters (SD, WY, VA.), two writers w/ bylines in the NYT, a reporter at the Washington Post, and a reporter at the Houston Chronicle. Not bad for a city of 30k.

Finally, in July, one of the hardest things I've ever written: my farewell column. I'll always love Ithaca, and the nearly four years I spent there were incredible. I owe that city a lot. It's a great town for young writers to grow up in.
