"Let artists draw what they want!"
Oh, okay.
Imma start using that excuse when Blacktober comes around.
I hope y'all remember your own words.
Anything goes.
I will remember this.
Lrt
"There isn't much black characters in anime because it takes place in Japan!" is a decent argument to the lack of black rep in Japanese media... except some series manages to squeeze in a white character as an exchange student or visiting foreigner.
Why can't y'all just Google stuff and stop assuming what it is, stop using terms and acronyms y'all don't know the meaning of.
I swear there will be a day y'all will spam a slur and think nothing of it.
Really wish anime/manga/etc. stopped that bullshit of reining in its audience with a cute anime girl on the cover only to cave their heads in with a boulder when it's reveal the protag is actually the world's most mediocre, boring and/or creepy ass male character.
Within two weeks of release, the Spiderverse fandom has experienced:
-Racial fetishism
-Misogynoir
-False pr0ship accusations
-ACTUAL pr0ship content
-L0licon resurfacing
-Cuck fetish fanart
-Transphobia
-Antiblackness
-Diaspora wars
Yeah, I practically seen it all atp ๐
The amount of people deadass not seeing the racism is absolutely crazy.
Like dawg, the ONE thing you pick up is body type difference?!
Thereโs more to this image than that?!
"There's too many neurodivergent minors" dawg, the character in THE ART is a neurodivergent minor, pls shut tf UP.
Also, the fact the artist really called Asa a woman when she's a highschool pisses me OFF.
And this is so out of character!!? Asa is REPULSED by sex.
@bpdasa
I never really viewed Makima as "sexy" tbh, especially since what she did to Denji was more of an act than anything.
She's like this... Alien to me.
Not as alien as Fami but she's dangerously uncanny and would wear only practical clothing lmfao
Let's also not forget that there's some Japanese media that doesn't even take place in Japan/based on Japan where the characters are either explicitly white or implied to be white.
A huge chunk of isekai and JRPGs are usually based on fantasy medieval Europe.
While I do agree that color picking is essential to avoid whitewashing, I notice that some brown/black characters have an ashy/unhealthy looking skin tone in their official art.
For cases like these, use your discretion and color the characters with a healthier skin tone.
CSM hate on the tl again but this time it's blatant misinformation now.
So this the stage we're at, huh.
Ppl be lying with shit like "Fujimoto kills his female cast like flies!" and "Asa's character is all about Chainsaw Man!"........
@AldrinMiles
There's multiple fronts but I would say that the extremely online takes the fandom has isn't rooted in reality.
The amount of bigotry, harassment and insensitive statements show how much the fandom forget that there's real people and real culture out there beyond the game.
My interest in this anime has plummeted to a 0, a negative now actually.
I am NOT gonna be happy seeing discourse about this on my tl and the kind of weirdos who will excuse this.
Muting it ASAP.
@Cannibalicedoll
This scene was very powerful for me, like it was so raw such an unapologetically black phrase is taken seriously in a plot important and iconic scene ๐ญ๐ญ๐ญ
Any CSM fan who follows me/wanna befriend me requires a resume, 3 references, a background check and a candid essay about why they love the series.
I don't lightly fw with just ANYONE here in the fandom, not anymore.
@PeachieRad
"Just ignore it!" is also a form of them enabling the racism and absolving themselves of any responsibility.
They can't try to claim they're in a community with black cosplayers while simultaneously turning their back on racial harassment.
This is what I mean by "damaged so many ppl's perception of reality" btw.
I'm not talking about it in the literal sense of it being a videogame๐๐๐

"Wanting to fuck Chainsaw Man"
This girl was REPULSED at the idea of sex with him, let alone sex on the whole.
This person is a grade A instigator, no doubt about it.
Hobie is in bad taste not just cuz of the racism but also KFC is not a British food chain???
And Pavi as a chai tea is the exact thing he wouldn't want to be, HE SAID RIGHT IN THE MOVIE OH COME ON
Okay so in ONE week, CSMtwt has experienced:
-Denji discourse for the millionth time
-Discourse about the writing of Fujimoto's female characters
-Shoujo/Girlhood discourse
-Fujimoto x Gege fanart
-Arguments with JJKtwt
This has been a long ass week.............
First Nessa, then Raihan, now Ryme, too many Pokemon fans are showing off how antiblack and uncivilized they can be with explicitly black characters in this series.
If they aren't whitewashed, they're fetishized, if they aren't fetishized, they're "cringe" and a "stereotype".
Good good that more ppl are talking about this and itโs spreading cuz by damn some ppl either forget, ignore or are just fine with it.
Also, if black ppl have a problem with a racist caricature of their race but youโre fine with those of your own: thatโs a YOU issue.
"I thought it was a quirky sound!"
Gee, really?
What would the quirky sound mean, hmm?
Maybe JUST maybe if you feel inclined to GOOGLE IT or even ask someone IN PRIVATE instead of making yourself look like a fucking buffoon... Nah, nvm.
Y'all too facetious for that.
The most damning flaw at the core of most fandoms is their collective ability to dismiss and ignore any kind of racism (and bigotry by extent) inside the community in exchange for escapism.
Enablers are plentiful and some won't even mind defending such dangerous ideas.
"Fandom racism isn't ~real~ racism!" implies that there is a "benign" form of racism that, if left alone, is acceptable and largely harmless.
This is not true.
Just letting y'all know I been with Asa since Day One, I will go in the mfing TRENCHES for my daughter, I will gatekeep her from the second wave of weirdos, y'all will NOT mistreat her like y'all did with Kobeni.
Happy
#MysteryDungeon
to one of the best games I've ever played!
Here's a quick meme that I whipped up to remind us that we all live in fear of our merchant overlord, Kecleon!
@PMDShitpost
@PokemonMDfeels
Public Safety so fucking funny rn, first that dude who accidentally released Nayuta to Denji before Yoshida gave him the all clear, now this guy assisting a group of intruders reconstruct Chainsaw Man AND having a coffee break too, they just be hiring ANYONE ๐
@XRennisx
It's an October event where black artists draw black versions and make black edits of their favorite nonblack characters. It also celebrates existing black characters and black OCs.
It's been going on since 2020.
Ofc, this isn't restricted isn't restricted to Blacktober :)
This is what happens when original characters are created btw
I already figured out a long time ago that they don't want black ppl to exist in "their" spaces.
That's their end goal.
Getting very defensive over Falin as if Kabrun stabbed her out of malice...........
Also, funny thing, Kabru stabbing her lead to a crucial discovery about her anatomy which is relevant later on (Idk if that would be animated yet though)
@SirLansolot
What I find inconsistent with them is that when artists whitewash a brown character, they tell you to "respect their stylistic choice/interpretation" but when you draw a character with black features, they jump down your throat and tell you to make an OC...
I always had this thought since I was 14 and it hasn't changed.
Not only it makes me feel cheated cuz it's dirty sales tactic, but it genuinely shows the author lacks confidence in writing good female characters unless their purpose is to serve the male MC.
Can ppl stop saying JJK as an "exception", it's localized in English as Jujutsu Kaisen, no one is calling it Sorcery Fight.
All he meant was don't be calling anime by its Japanese name when you know damn well the fandom at large doesn't call it that/it's not localized that way.
Aight, since this tweet is getting more attention than I anticipated, I wanna let y'all know that I do fanart and black edits~
Here's links to my art and ko-fi.
Also to us, the readers, we know that Asa is an important character in being Part 2's protag + her being the host of the antagonistic War Devil.
But to Katana Man and Haruka, she's just a random girl who happens to be there and thus, reduced to her connection to Chainsaw Man.
Its supposed to be a ridicule, to not address asa by her traits or who she is but by her connection to a man(chainsaw man). It shows that these characters see her only as chainsaw man's stepping stone, through their relationship. Neither know much about asa.
[ Chainsaw Man x Jujutsu Kaisen ]
Remember that time in CSM chapter 235 when Yoshida had Octopus Devil carry his fight against Miri?!
#Chainsawman
#JujutsuKaisen
What I mean by "healthy", I mean with reddish, orangish undertones, you know? Warm undertones that's seen with brown skin.
What I mean by "ashy", I mean with grayish, blueish undertones. Generally cool undertones that's corpse-like, lmfao.
I swear some of you nonblacks live in a fantasy la-la-la world where you have shades implanted into your skull to the point you deny any claims of racism even if itโs directly in your face.
Ppl don't understand that it's within Gojo's character to be this way?
Like wow, a spoiled man with a superiority complex says something ignorant about a black person and a culture he's unfamiliar with?
Color me SHOCKED /sarcasm
Me, before AITSF: Oooooh, Date is this cool, broody detective. I can't wait for this badass story to unfold!
Me, after AITSF: ...and that's why I think Date should be deepfried and served to seagulls because this man is just...........
@sumiremybeloved
Thistle wins, his age and maturity is basically frozen so he'll never improve and learn, he has 1,000 years of teenager years under his belt, meanwhile Asa has plenty of time to improve so...
@maisydels
What really gets me was how the OP said only "bitchless" and "losers" would use lean...
They don't know that lean was a very popular celebrity drug back in the 90s/early 2000s ๐
@gimme_ur_d0llar
They really coming out the woods these days and I fucking hate to see they get 10k+ likes EVERYTIME ๐ญ๐ญ๐ญ
Like, what happened to SHAME???
Even if her writing is (relatively) decent, her being attached to the male MC undercuts everything cuz it's from his perspective and from the perspective of an often male author selling to a male targeted audience.
I wanna see the adventures of the cool alien girl--
I deadass don't know why it's so hard to have more adult anime girls as leads but I guess creators gotta make some kinda freak caveat to pull in
#that
kind of audience to balance out the potential yuri.
And it's crazy cuz plenty ppl don't know this so they're tricked......
You can't ask for solidarity while insulting others, it doesn't fucking work like that.
Y'all are so unserious trying to powerscale y'all suffering against each other, it's no wonder this mentality has BOTH of y'all in this fucking mess rn.
Dear Americans,
Canadians donโt really care that the smoke is bothering you. We are losing our homes, businesses & everything we own while we also have to breathe the smoke.
Instead of bitching about the smoke you could ask your Canadian friends here if they are okay
in her cool alien world, not the male MC who gotta build a harem out of her and other girls who would normally never associate with him.
I just despise this bait n' switch tactic.
The man who LOVES movies so much not just getting one but TWO movies?!
And in turn, for years to come, his movies might get referenced too?
Oh man, Fujimoto is such a lucky bastard living out the dream ๐ฅบ
Seeing Fujimoto's works being adapted like this makes me so happy man, can't even imagine how he feels as the cinema nerd he is seeing Look Back and Reze in the big screen
@koutingmiao
Putting videogame characters there is so funny cuz they're often written by teams across different entries and not everyone on that team is going go be a man ๐๐๐
@sitsku
The difference is in the matter of intent and purpose.
Whitewashing has a loaded history behind it and often done maliciously.
When ppl do a black version, it's to flex their creativity, not for erasure of the Asian identity. Ppl also headcanon them as being blasian so 1/
Now mind you, I'm not referring to stylized or abstract art pieces where everyone's skin colors are supposed to unnatural. I'm just referring to art pieces with regular lighting, nothing special. No crazy filters or experimenting with colors.
Just regular lighting.
@johnny_locky
What makes her so disgusting to me is that she's not a devil, fiend or anything else.
She's just.... mundane, this weird ass mundane character who you could meet irl.
The second point is VERY important to ALL artists cuz too many of y'all are using bigotry to limit your artistic talents.
Jinkei sees the value of drawing blk ppl as a way to improve, it's more than just what their black fan asked for.
More than "forced diversity".
I'd like to make three clarifications:
1. I didn't say that I would only create Black characters in the future. I have included characters of Asian, Caucasian, and Arabic backgrounds in my art.
2. I make my own decision to create Black characters. Doing so with my art styleโฆ
And from one black person to another, I have seen black cosplayers, black artists, black voice actors, etc. racially harassed on this app for expressing themselves in their craft.
Those are various spaces that are hostile to black people. The safe space ARE lacking.
I believe CSMtwt is like this cuz Fujimoto makes an effort to put meaning into the manga that requires rereads and deeper dives.
Since Part 1 already gave us a taste of how he writes, it makes sense Part 2 is treated with scrutiny.
It's like the fans feed into the creator.
there will never be a community better at analysing things than csmtwt they will post a 12 tweet analysis after even the most mundane chapter and it WILL make complete sense every single time
@ultralovedeluxe
Hobie is meticulous and puts a lot of detail into his clothes and accessories, why tf would he get lazy with maintaining his hair???
This is a character assassination...
And yeah, I know the solution to this is to engage with better media but I won't stop complaining about this cuz it's hard to avoid discussion of the brand new hit waifu anime that drops every odd season and explodes in popularity.
I can do both.
@Justsomenerd2
@NotHaru47
Thereโs also no evidence in the thread that those two are connected lmfao. Putting three images side by side vs a news article screenshot only implies, not provides.
This is just them being circlejerking themselves to a false narrative cuz they have nothing better to do.
@bara_moe_bltch
And how many of them were working on this game like WHAT???
They would have needed a substantially large and dedicated team to get this done ๐ญ๐ญ๐ญ
@danulmao
I always seen it as a matter of cowardice (whether it's the creator's choice or executive meddling) since no one bothers to fully commit yet want to profit from the benefit of the doubt from the audience.
This should serve as a reminder that Palestinians are just like everyone else: they too are in fandoms.
They could be your favorite artist, cosplayer, memer, photographer, fanfic author and so much more.
They share joy in the same interests as you, the same common ground...
