Dear @ValleyNewsLive The headline should read “Students Vandalize School” I have a standard. My WFPS colleagues do too. We aggressively confront vandalism of building we take pride in. Same for Sheyenne teachers who spent their morning cleaning. Thank you to those teachers.

Gov Burgum has announced new mask requirements in public spaces, where physical distancing is not occurring. Addit’l restrictions being placed on restaurants & bars to close at 10pm daily w/ occupancy limitations. HS activities are to be cancelled until mid Dec.

Coaching a high school all star basketball game is a tremendous experience. Thank you to players, coaches, & Fargo Gateway Lions for an amazing 5 days. Best part was coaching w/ a great friend and having players with all star caliber character. ND basketball is in a good place!

I’ve watched A LOT of basketball games so far. The block/charge call is in shambles. Wildly inconsistent. Sometimes a flop is a charge. Sometimes it’s a flop warning. Really depends on the individual official and who the players are and that is not an objective measure of a foul.

With all these weather related issues I am grateful to have the AD I have at West Fargo High School. Jay DeCann @WFPackerAD is consistently working around the clock 7 days a week for our kids and never wavers in his devotion to them. IMO he is the best AD North Dakota has!

Integrity is on display when it hurts. I don’t know the whole story, but Sheyenne’s AD @Cory_Herrmann unequivocally made the right and difficult decision this week. Emotions are high & people are hurt but you can’t put a value on character and no organization can have too much.

Simplest way to state a complicated issue. Those who wanted a statewide mask mandate got it. They didn’t think what would come with it. The incentive structure for testing is perverse causing runaway positives in very social age group. HS athletics has to pay the price.

Cut day is hard for players and coaches. But I’d 100% rather be the guy to deliver bad news to players & have them sometimes in tears because it means so much to them than never see that emotion because it doesn’t mean anything.

I began the process of teaching my 76 consumer math kids how to budget. They began by looking at their monthly expenses. Many are going home to thank their parents and perhaps apologize for their spending habits. It was a good day.

@sunnylohmann @ConceptualJames I got my first math teaching job in Duluth in 2006. Spring semester I had some practicum students from the university & they were supposed to find a way to incorporate social justice into a class lesson. I distinctly remember telling them to teach math & forget about that stuff.

Time to completely decimate standardized testing $ from fed/state budgets. As a teacher I don’t need to hear about accountability from people who have voluntarily put my country $21 trillion in debt. I make a difference in kids’ lives. Standardized testing doesn’t. #education

1 of my favorite parts of coaching is when a kid tries to do what you ask even though it’s out of his comfort zone, then doesn’t go his way. You look him in the eyes, say “good job, trust what you’re doing” & they go back out & try again. One more reason I love coaching my team.

Solid win by the @WFPackerHoops 77-62 over a tough Sheyenne squad who showed their toughness by battling until the end. However, #PackerToughness held the day on the defensive end making every possession earned. Very proud. Tomorrow back to work.
