Buzzing to have commentated on such a high intensity & gripping game of football. Always a pleasure working with the brilliant
@davehillierr
& the team 🙌🏼🙏🏻📺🎙️
Trossard will get all the plaudits in terms of being the impact substitute and rightly so. But I'll tell you what, Jakub Kiwior at left-back, a position he's previously looked uncomfortable in was superb!
Pep Guardiola celebrates a goal, it’s fine. Arteta celebrates winning the game & its ‘embarrassing’.
Apparently we should all stay seated & calmly applaud. No celebrations allowed! Nobody’s claiming it’s a major trophy. Everyone hates us & do you know what, I love it! 🔴⚪️
Say what you want about Arteta's team selections, tactics & lack of experience but at the very least, this man is willing to make big calls in an attempt to fix a broken culture that has plagued the Arsenal for years.
Ødegaard went over to Saka as he stood over the spot with the ball under his arm and clearly said the penalty was to be taken by Havertz. Not saying Saka resisted but MO keen for him to take it. The German calmly slots home & the Arsenal fans have been singing his name…
Those clowns filmed in Arsenal shirts spouting racist nonsense are not welcome at our club, nor do they represent it. Many immigrants, including my own family fell in love with AFC when they arrived in London because they felt more comfortable watching football there than…
Arsenal aren't trying to 'bully' Brighton into selling Moises Caicedo at a cut price. They're offering an incredibly large sum of money for a player who has made less Premier League appearances than I've had birthdays. That's the truth of it.
Watching the game back & the best thing about Kiwior’s performance was that he was fully aware of the challenges he faced playing on his wrong side & adapted his game accordingly.
He enabled us to play with the high line but at the same time, toned down his normally aggressive…
Fair to say I was really frustrated by what we saw unfold in the PL this weekend. Why Liverpool are being criticised is beyond me. It’s not about the who, it’s about the general standards! Put tribalism to one side, it’s about the integrity of our sport.
Bukayo Saka saying he knew he was going to be racially abused the moment he missed his penalty is a sad indictment of today’s society. Powerful words from the Arsenal man & I’m proud to say he’s one of our own ❤️
Football is broken. Reading up on the Chelsea/Clearlake/PIF links and you can understand why Todd Boehly & Co we’re happy to spend wild amounts of money without the fear of any real consequences. They’re not the only club operating in a way that doesn’t sit right with me - but…
When it comes to kits, I’ve always believed myself to be a traditionalist. The Arsenal should wear red & white at home with the away kit being yellow & blue. But this is for me, the best away kit I can remember to date & it’s no wonder it’s been sold out for months! Today, we…
Have Liverpool not requested to have their FA Cup tie postponed at the weekend yet because they think they can beat Shrewsbury even with the impacted players missing?
Haven’t seen the key decisions in the Copenhagen vs United game yet but I thought we were all just respecting all refereeing decisions, no matter how controversial going forward?
Erik ten Hag mentioned that game between Arsenal & United at the Emirates back in September again during his press conference this evening. In other news, water is wet.
Call us boring, call us whatever you like. That was an excellent defensive display away from home against the reigning treble winners. Proud of the Arsenal.
Of course it’ll get postponed, it’s Liverpool. Funny how things change though, Klopp once sent his kids to play a domestic cup replay & didn’t attend the fixture because it interrupted his scheduled winter break. Now he wants a semi final postponed, I guess the cups do matter 🤷🏻♂️
Hold on, Danny Mills isn't sure about Arsenal's signing of Ben White? Didn't he previously say we weren't good enough for him? Classic case of a pundit trying to be controversial, so much so, he forgot what his initial view was.
Read earlier that Arsenal’s spend under Arteta is at £591.5m & that 25 players have come in. So on average, that’s £23.7m per player. Granted, we’ve spent big on some individuals but when you consider the transformation of the squad, it’s not a crazy amount of money by today’s…
Arsenal should be already working behind the scenes, refunding every single one of those supporters who have spent their hard earned cash & time travelling up to Manchester.
Gabriel Jesus is a huge part of the reason Arsenal went from top four challengers to title contenders in a short space of time. The disrespect towards him from some drives me mad.
I think we can all agree he's not the most prolific goalscorer but his xG so far in the Premier…
If you're Arteta out, that's fair enough. But if you're making excuses for our captain who's failed to adhere to the standards set & blaming the manager for wanting to uphold them, have a word with yourself.
Arsenal being charged by the FA for the way their players appealed for a late penalty versus Newcastle is laughable. The coverage of Arteta’s reaction in itself has been embarrassing & now this. The club & it’s supporters have every right to feel aggrieved.
Ever since I was a kid, if the same team won the league & FA Cup, the Premier League runners up would contest the Community shield. But of course because it’s Arsenal this time, it’s wrong and we should all have a moan about it. 💤
This place has totally transformed since Arteta took the reins. The progress on the pitch has been clear but the atmosphere around the place isn’t spoken about anywhere near enough. Unrecognisable! Could watch this on repeat for hours!
Let the record state that Angelos Postecoglou of Tottenham Hotspur Football Club was booked for angrily protesting at a referee during the defeat versus Chelsea.
I was completely focused on the goal so didn’t catch what Mikel Arteta was booked for. I’ve just seen it back and it really is laughable. To book a manager for jumping up and down on the sidelines with his staff having just seen his team score a 97th minute winner is not just…
Bored of the Xhaka outrage. Played his best football in an Arsenal shirt last season & isn’t anywhere close to being our biggest problem. The club have decided to keep him rather than spending £35m+ to replace. It’s done, let’s get behind the team for what’s gonna be a big season
Looking at Nuno Tavares I see the type of player Wenger of the late 90s/early 2000s could have turned into a world beater. He’s direct, brave, strong, confident & quick but still a little raw. Looks like a bargain at approximately £8m.
This is why people should actually watch football matches rather than scroll through social media, find stills & claim to understand what’s happened. Havertz’s right leg makes zero contact with Longstaff. The most ardent of NUFC fans will tell you that.
Granit Xhaka didn’t go through all of that nonsense with the fans & turn his Arsenal career around to the point he’s one of the club’s most important players/leaders only to leave as soon as we made the Champions League. Leverkusen may well be interested in his services but I…
That awful Arsenal side with the ‘cone man’ as a manager sit six points off of second place Liverpool, having played the same amount of games. Football really is a funny old game.
I can’t speak for all but it’s not even about the penalty or the red card for me. It’s the cynical fouls, particularly from Rodri that go unpunished while AFC players go straight into the book. The inconsistency in applying the rules of a game within 90mins is the issue.
“I don’t see a specific foul on Gabriel. I see two hands on his back but I don’t see anything of a push that warrants him flying forward like that”
Meanwhile, attacker places both hands on the back of his neck/head, applying force to pin him & prop himself up.
Good process 👏🏼
How hasn’t the VAR checked this?! Arteta has EVERY right to feel aggrieved by that decision. Credit to Brentford for a strong performance, I’m not taking anything away from them but this is not acceptable in the age of VAR.
I wonder if people will talk about United’s lack of ‘bottle’ after they gave up a 2-0 lead at home to Sevilla, 13th placed in La Liga, before being battered in the return fixture.
If somebody can find me the three fouls Andy Madley thinks he’s seen Xhaka commit prior to the booking, I’d love to see them. Refereeing by reputation, it’s appalling.
I’ve always said Xhaka is under appreciated at Arsenal & that’s never gone down well with some. But I’ll ask you this, why should we accept below his market value? We’ve been a soft touch in the market for years & from that perspective, we’re right to not be bullied into a sale.
Each to their own but I must admit, I find this a little strange. Maybe it’s because I could never imagine myself not watching football. I suppose as long as he does the business for the Arsenal, who cares. 💪🏼
How we've missed Thomas Partey this season. The way he's able to break lines and get you on the front foot with a first time pass, a dummy or the drop of a shoulder and the freedom that gives Rice to venture further forward is a game changer. He's been such a huge miss.
So called Arsenal fans who’ve abused Granit Xhaka throughout his time at the club are now upset because of his comments around the move to Roma. Strange bunch.
#AFC
| It’s been reported, as suspected, KSE approved the purchase of Partey at Arteta’s request & Stan has underwritten the transfer business & losses because of the pandemic. Is this a sign of the tide turning at Arsenal? It clearly shows a real trust in the manager!
I've said for a while that in my view, Trossard is the best finisher at the club. The composure and the class shown there, brilliant. 12 goals now in all comps this season. For somebody who starts from the bench most weeks, that's an impressive return.
Waking up to lots of ‘Arteta is a hypocrite’ themed articles this morning. So here’s what he actually said after the VAR error at Spurs for those that couldn’t be bothered to do some basic research:
"For sure, you know at the end you want to get what you deserve. You want to…
#AFC
| Does Gabriel Martinelli, in that photo, look like a player who is sulking regarding a lack of minutes and is disengaged with the current project 🤔
There are actually people on here who demanded Havertz be sent off at the weekend making a case as to why Udogie’s challenge was only worthy of a yellow card. Make it make sense.
He had 2 players sent off who were lucky to still be on at that time & could have zero complaints about the penalty. His side weren’t robbed, they were reckless. What grounds does he have to blast the officials? Incomparable to the MA situation - silly comparisons being made.
🎙️| Ange Postecoglou on the refereeing decisions:
"You have to accept the referee's decision, that is how I grew up. This constant erosion of the referee's authority is where the game is going to get - they are not going to have any authority. We are going to be under the…
With Ben White likely to come in & Tierney, Saka, Martinelli & hopefully ESR all signed up on long-term contracts you can at least understand what
#AFC
are trying to do. Build a strong core of young, talented players, who can shape the club’s future for years to come.
Odegaard is beginning to look like a steal at £30m. Not only is he technically brilliant & extremely intelligent, his work rate is incredible. As the spearhead of our midfield he sets the tone when it comes to pressing & you can see why MA was desperate to sign him up.
Criticise Arsenal all you like. The club have shown significant improvement this season and have an excellent foundation to build upon for the coming seasons. We know we're not quite there yet but we're enjoying the ride & learning along the way.
Forget the nonsense spouted on…
The same people telling me “it’s only West Ham” are the same people who told me they’re miles better than us, with better players, a better manager & are nailed on to finish above us. Go figure 🤷🏻♂️
LFC fans claiming Arsenal are ‘targeting’ Mane when he’s literally leading into challenges with his arms, committing fouls left, right & centre. Oh & kicking people long after the balls gone off the field.
This is an awful take. For the past two weeks the narrative has been Ramsdale is ‘unhappy & feels betrayed’ by Arteta. He shows some appreciation and support for Raya after he pulls off a good save but because that doesn’t fit the narrative, it’s not genuine. Have a day off ffs.
🗣️ "You know when someone loses the Oscar and they start clapping and smiling for the other person" 🥲
@Carra23
on Ramsdale's reaction to that Raya save...
They made the top six last season with an interim boss, hired a sought after manager & spent over £200m in the summer on top of the tons of money they’d spent in the seasons prior. Who on earth didn’t have Man Utd in their top six this time around?! Where have the standards gone?
Fernandes: “No one thought that
#mufc
would be fighting for top 4. We know that now everyone thinks we have been great but I remember at the start of the season no one even put our team in the top six. It’s a good surprise for them.” [

Arsenal accumulating just one point less in the Premier League than Liverpool during 2021 doesn’t mean we’re at their level. We’re a long way from that but it does point to the fact we’re moving in the right direction. Slowly but surely, we’re improving. No doubt about it.
We’ve a long way to go before we can be classed as a top side again but don’t tell me these lads don’t care. There’s been lots of talk about the culture at AFC & based on the little we’ve seen so far, Ramsdale seems exactly the type of character we need.
Looks as though Ramsdale is Arsenal-bound. You’d have to assume he’s been identified as a target due to his age profile, distribution, the fact he’s homegrown & his potential. Anybody who wears the cannon on their chest gets my support so let’s hope he proves the fans wrong.
Re the Gabriel/Raya incident Tuchel is furious about. I get that it’s Arsenal so everybody wants to have a pop but the truth is, the ref has applied some common sense there. There was clearly confusion over who was taking the kick. No advantage gained. I’d feel the same if it…
To be among the Arsenal fans singing Jose Antonio Reyes’ name last night at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan, his home & see the Sevilla fans respond the way they did was special. They loved him, we loved him & that was truly one of the most emotional moments I’ve experienced at a game.…
Xhaka came into the side yesterday after weeks of speculation regarding his future, performed well, scored a good goal after which he grabbed the badge to make a statement & still gets slated. The guy can’t win. Is he perfect? No. But there are far more pressing issues than him.
Saka’s performance & maturity even at the highest level comes as no surprise to us Arsenal fans who have watched him develop. I’m glad everybody else got a chance to witness how special he is.
#Euro2020
Just seen Peter Walton’s explanation of why the referee was sent over to the monitor for one penalty incident & not the other on BT Sport. Best laugh I’ve had in years.
Somebody needs to start a petition requesting Arsenal keep the black away kit for at least a couple more seasons. It’s hands down my favourite
#AFC
away strip ever & I didn’t think the 01/02 gold shirt could ever be beaten.
How has Romero got away with pulling Cucurella’s hair like that, even after a VAR check & Spurs allowed to then take the corner from which they equalised in the last minute? The Premier League is 30 years old this week & we’re still no closer to having competent officials
