Someone please roast my boyfriend for having a life-sized wall decal of
@JoshAllenQB
in his apartment but no dining table chairs because I am so sick of sitting in a folding chair to eat.
There are people who say: “I support women in sports” and there are people who make room at the table for women’s voices to be heard. Know the difference.
I’m employed!
As of this month, I'm officially
@dcunited
's Club Photographer and Photo Content Manager. I'm so grateful to work at the club I fell in love with back when I was just a photo intern in 2016.

In 2016, I was a photo intern and the only female in the photo workroom, and all of the other male photographers moved my equipment to the corner of the room without telling me.
One thing I recently noticed about Ted Lasso is how long their halftime seems. They are having complete emotional breakthroughs while I am rushing to edit and upload 4 pictures.
I think that

serves as a reminder to many people that women often have to deal with shit that you don’t see. And that’s okay, because it ultimately makes us stronger, but it helps when people at least understand.
Resharing this because holy cow it has over 3K likes now which is probably the most I’ve ever gotten from a tweet I’ve made from a brand account. I’m proud.
Hey
@CharlotteFC
, since it's your first game you should know that visiting team brings orange slices for halftime. It's a league rule you don't have to look it up.

It's been an insane couple of weeks but I'm pumped to shoot our first regular season match of 2023 tomorrow! 📸

However, there are still instances like the ones above that I experience that my male counterparts don’t have to, and I can’t help but think that there is more work to be done.
I have spent over 10 years now as a professional sports photographer, and I try not to assume that anyone is making assumptions based on my gender- in fact, the majority of people I work with have been incredibly supportive.
I have spent years trying to prove myself, and still sometimes have to face the same frustrating comments that I did when I was 20 years old. I’ve mastered turning resentment into humility, and frustration into motivation.
I’ve been shooting for 8+ years, but this is my first full-time job that is 100% devoted to photography. I can’t wait to continue to grow and learn with an incredible team of people who have been so supportive of my professional development and passion as a photographer.
Posting these because a month ago I was in Utah but also as a reminder that the NWSL was the first pro team sports league in the United States to return to play during the coronavirus pandemic and ran an entire tournament with zero positive cases of COVID-19.
At my next internship, a fan from the stands yelled at me several times during a match saying I should give my camera to him because he “could do my job better.”
At a portfolio review in 2021, my reviewer told me that I “Don’t look like a sports photographer.”
Later that year I showed up to a shoot and the client asked: “Where’s the guy we hired?”
At Thanksgiving dinner one year, a family friend told me I should quit trying to pursue sports photography because she thought I would be better suited for fashion photography.
2022 ✅
An unimaginable year for me professionally. This was my first year working as a photographer full-time after years of having to pursue it on the side. Here’s to growing more, improving my craft and fighting imposter syndrome in 2023.

Being a woman in a male-dominated industry is exhausting because I can say "I think I am good at my job." and people will be like "let's not get cocky."
I have minimal graphic design experience, but thanks to 1000 youtube tutorials (and
@XaviDussaq
's photos,) what I’ve created for work this year hasn’t turned out too bad, and I do see myself continuing to improve.
I know everyone is mad at how Emily In Paris inaccurately portrays France but I can’t get over how in season 2 she says she took a Fudge tour on Mackinac Island on a VESPA.
I did some work for Brain Injury Services, an organization that helps develop services for brain injury survivors. The portraits I took for the campaign are currently on buses and in metro stations all over the DMV! I’m so happy my photos have this reach and for a good cause.
I remember my professors always encouraging us photo students to learn to shoot video because we would probably use it down the road.
...They weren't lying. I've been working on my video production skills more and more lately 💪
Absolutely loved shooting this year's pride top! I got to photograph some incredible expressions of pride with fantastic people around D.C. 🏳️🌈

3 years ago today I moved to DC and lived in an apt with 2 girls in a room accessible only by walking through a bathroom. I did graphics, photo and video for nonprofits.
2 apartments & 1 job later, DC has made me the most unapologetic version of myself in the best possible way.
