Really wanted to be able to walk around on a swaying boat but without having to deal with moving the char as a rigidbody. So I did this instead - work smarter, not harder lol
spent today making something i've been wanting to do since the start of the project! wasn't sure it was possible
fully procedurally animated cloud projections (that also affect sprites!) can probably also be used for all kinds of caustic effects like water reflection ripples etc
almost exactly a year ago I made my like first ever pixel thing and nothing has been the same since - so I thought it'd be appropriate to recreate it in Unity! Thanks for all the love twitter people

i guess i should make these a bit more mobile viewing friendly!
got a lot of new ideas for improving this today, let’s how it shakes out! 🤞

feels like im breaking some kind of gamedev rule but here's a taste of 7 months of progress on our upcoming game Beyond The Plastic Wall!
it's so cool how we've now almost bridged the gap between what we're able to do and what we want to do.
I can't wait for you all to play it
Really loving the camera-switching on this, it looks so smooth 🎥
Anything new in your game you'd like to share for

Friday? 😉

@HakanssonAugust
mostly writing these past days and weeks, but i got a little work in some reflections - still not completely sure about all the post processing work here but its nice to just mess about with
i like adding these little "pointless" places around our world, they might not do anything particular for the game itself but they add a lot to the feel of the place!
spent this morning optimising the crap out of the grass system and removed a bunch of unnecessary loops and holy crap is this thing running well now 😍
this is on an extremely crappy mac btw

working on some reactive glowy bug friends that can light your way in dark areas!
i really can't stand bugs but at least these little guys are helpful

we’ll get faked sextapes, faked news coverage, weaponized election interference, unparalleled opportunities for military propaganda and a complete desaturation of any hype based economy - but it’s a small price to pay for uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
wait why are we doing this again
Introducing Sora, our text-to-video model.
Sora can create videos of up to 60 seconds featuring highly detailed scenes, complex camera motion, and multiple characters with vibrant emotions.
Prompt: “Beautiful, snowy
I really don’t understand how anyone can find either the process or the results of this appealing. You did nothing and it spat out nothing in return. What are you so impressed by?
OpenAI just dropped DALL-E 3 a few hours ago, and it's a game changer for making comics.
I made the comic strip below in less than 15 mins.
Here is my process:
soooo happy with the asset creation tool we're making!
it automatically calculates shadows and shading for 2D sprites regardless of alpha padding and can react dynamically to multiple lights in real time - completely in edit mode! No shaders, only really dumb math ❤️
#indiedev
Trying out some new cameras ideas with a very narrow FOV, curved environments and depth of field
even though I wrote “absolutely no DOF” in big letters in the early design notes haha
Found a dumb way of making dynamic cables using verlet integration. Since it's just a bunch of points and particles I just limit the Y position to the same value as the floor - and stop the XZ until its raised above it. It just.. works?
Work smarter not harder

one thing led to another and i'm now building a pretty janky but fun vegetation drawing tool!
it's pretty incredible that you can build this kind of stuff in unity, i had no idea

@Der_Kevin
I made my first ever thing with Bolt! It's absolutely fantastic.
@Olivertree
if you want to make an interactive music video just say the word ❤️
composing these little animated scenes in unity just brings me so much joy 🥰 Will hopefully able to show gameplay stuff on the New Project real soon

i have wanted to try this out for a long time and finally sat down and did it - I know its not how real light works but I'm still so extremely happy with the results!!

made some new climby vegetation! ive been so into automating stuff through algorithms recently that i almost forgot the joy of just placing things by hand
#screenshotsaturday
i think i'll set my battle with compute shaders aside for now and just keep going with DrawMeshInstanced
getting a pretty solid 100fps in 4K in the editor with this much stuff in the scene should honestly be good enough, right? especially since i'm not targeting mobile
being going back and forth since this project started trying to find a good look for our water that would work with our pixel art.
but today i say screw it! why not go for realistic? our game, our rules!
A prototype for a fun little physics game I made about a year back! Probably the most intense coding experience of my life but in the end I was really happy with it. One day maybe?

HOW WE KNOW WE'RE ALIVE is now finally FREE on Steam! 🥰🥰🥰🥰
Explore a melancholy little swedish town and discover a story about friendship, loss and prejudice.
never expected this honestly - thank you for following along on my dumb little journey where i stumble my way into learning how to be a technical artist
have another little progress video on the house! 🍺
actually automating the animation of these book scanning devices was a good call since we can now apply some cool movement accurate sound to each instance!
BEYOND THE PLASTIC WALL takes place in a strange world where humanity has long since conquered nature and risen to its highest potential - only to stagnate and leave itself to erosion.

another example of how using low contrast artwork can give you much more control when color grading!
i know i'm guilty of sometimes overusing bloom but there's just something about the mix between soft lighting and pixelart that really tickles me
got sick of relying on a bunch of slow noise parameters for our vegetation system so instead i made this texture painter from scratch!
the color of each pixel corresponds to a material and the luminosity the size of the mesh!
also made some minor tweakable adjustments to our 2D shadow tool. It now "bakes" the shadows unless the light actually has to move in the scene so the performance cost will be basically 0 in game even if we light thousands of objects!
HOW WE KNOW WE'RE ALIVE now stands at Overwhelmingly Positive on steam 🥰
thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you
Extremely excited also to finally announce the title for our next project: BEYOND THE PLASTIC WALL
An atmosphere dense narrative exploration of loss, love and isolation set in the shadows of a giant, ageless city.
