Yes! We are hours away from tomorrow's first practices and the official start of the 2021-2022 high school basketball season. So here we go, the schedule for the first week of games November 22 thru 28.
Mike O'Brien's 24/7 coverage, Joe Henricksen's reports, Scott Phillips' weekly highlights show, Aaron Britton's statewide team data, and ok, Jack Gleason with the daily info updates. HS basketball coverage like a blanket. See you all in November.
The old Lawless Gym at Fenwick. Throwback night. De La Salle vs. Fenwick. Basketball in the new gym for the past 20 years.
Saw my first hs game in here 50+ years ago, and thousands of games later, still probably have seen the most games right here. The best.
Less than 24 hours before the first day of official practice and just two weeks until the first games on Monday, November 21.....so here's the schedule for that opening week including the day-by-day Thanksgiving Week Tournament match-ups.
It was the night before the official first day of the 2019-2020 season - with opening practice tomorrow and first games two Mondays from now.....so here's the Opening Week schedule including the Thanksgiving Tournament schedules for Chicago area teams.

Saturday morning flashback. 1971-1972 Chicago Area Conference Standings. Notice any conference jumping? And please...no old people comments...like the night Mike O'Brien told me that his parents didn't even know each other in 1972.
Here we go...with six days to go before the official opening of practice, and three weeks to opening games on Monday, November 20, here's the schedule for the opening week of the season.

To echo Mike O'Brien's cloudy day, same here. Usually would be bubbling over with excitement for the first night. And same since 15 years old. Just a little longer for me. Here's a re-post from my first year, no computers - weekly typed. See any conference jumping?
The brains behind the curtain at headquarters. Michael and Margot checked last night's scores, updated the conference standings and ever-changing schedule. Grandkids also figured out we cross the daily mid-point of the season today. Ok, maybe it was me.
Huge thanks to Mike Reingruber and staff at R-B for another spectacular weekend. Annually the best hs event of the summer. I get exhausted just thinking about the amount of work that goes into it. A great gift to the hsbball community. And the roster book - always unbelievable.

Last night's scores, conf standings, 7-day schedule. And the annual look at the brains behind the curtain (and backup plan) at . Margot and Michael taking in their first game with Grandpa. Liked the popcorn, climbing bleachers, player shoes and scoreboard.
Contrary to the rumor circulating my wife has not committed me to the insane asylum because of all the cancelations/reschedules. She just continues to let me babble incoherently each morning beginning at 5:35 am.
And many thanks for postings, messages and responses about changes
Very disappointed to report all status quote at Proviso West. Arrived at 9:15 for first game at 9:30 to find a line in the lobby. Not selling tickets yet. Not letting anyone in. Totally disorganized. Finally get a ticket and miss the entire first quarter.

With the eve of the official start of hsbball season upon us...and Mike O'Brien's impending visit tomorrow to Leo's cool gym to broadcast CST Game Week...here's the schedule for the opening week (11-19) and tournaments involving Chicago area+ teams.
Already have the Sun-Times sliding across my driveway every morning. Does anybody know, cover or care more about hs basketball than Michael O'Brien? And throw in Joe Henricksen's articles...it doesn't get any better.

Thanks for the shoutout Mike. Without your efforts, genuine care and love for high school basketball, and desire to do what's right and fair for the entire area (yes people I hear/see it first hand), there would be no or minimal hs bball coverage at best, especially in the city
Huge thanks to
