Today is the anniversary of the birth of one of our Divisional namesakes-Boy Sailor John Travers Cornwell VC, commonly known as Jack.
Aged 16, he was posthumously awarded the VC for bravery at the Battle of Jutland & remains the youngest RN recipient of the medal.

It’s the start of a new era at HMS Raleigh today as we welcomed our new Commanding Officer, Capt Suzi Nielsen, this morning.

We would like to single out one recruit for special praise today- AB Amy White overcame her own battle to pass out of training after 18 months.
Amy begin her basic training in October 2018, but developed multiple stress fractures. Her training was delayed while she recovered.
Today is the 58th anniversary of the birth of Shaun Hanson, who gave his name to Hanson Division.
Shaun was a 20-year-old Steward serving on board HMS Ardent during the Falklands conflict. He was 1 of 22 sailors who lost their lives when the ship was bombed.
