This is one of the best groups of people I've had the honour of hanging out with, let alone making an entire wildlife series.
I cannot express my gratitude and respect for this project and its morals to be honest and showcase diverse & young people.
Long live team Bats! 💚🦇 x
It was an absolute dream come true to be on
#winterwatch
this evening.
So many amazing people were involved in the making of the film - to whom I will be forever grateful.
A huge thanks to you all for your lovely comments, they really mean a lot.
Indy & the Goshawks. 💚
YELLOW WAGTAIL!!!!!!!!! 💛😍
After many many many hours waiting at the drinking pool hide in the garden this gorgeous adult male
#YellowWagtail
came down for a drink and a quick bath.
What an unbelievably stunning bird, to see them just a few metres away was a real treat! 💯
Its a thrill to announce that I will be on
@BBCSpringwatch
this evening.
I had the joy of filming with the
#winterwatch
team back in November. Showcasing some of the amazing wildlife on my doorstep and my connection with the forest.
Tune in - BBC 2 at 8pm.❄
This is by far the coolest nest I've ever monitored.😍
🌳
This lovely pair of Redstarts laid 7 eggs in one of our next boxes.6 of the eggs hatched and all 6 of those chicks have successfully fledged🎉
Its been an absolute joy to watch these red tailed beautys grow!
@RSPBEngland
Just witnessed something pretty extraordinary!
Walking along a woodland path in the Neatherlands when I hear this squeaking on the ground. Only to find a GOLDCREST vs FIRECREST!
It was an extremely intense fight! Unreal! 😱

These Goshawks just get better and better! They have been rewarding me with some spectacular views recently.
Along with many other raptors, Goshawks eye colour changes as they get older. The 2 young birds on the left, have yellow eyes but the adults on the right have orange eyes!
Hey everyone,its impossible to thank you all personally but I'm overwhelmed by the amount of support you showed me today.
I was genuinely blown away by all the kind comments and messages,so thank you.
I'm aware how harsh social media can be but today it was anything but.

Lovely walk over RSPB Budby with
@ChrisGPackham
this afternoon. Seeing a sweet Stonechat family and enjoying the ace habitat. So great to finally meet up! Thank you Chris.
@RSPBSherwood
Really needed a good evening walk on the heath after a long old day of GCSE revision. Just a few minutes ago, 3 Cranes flew right over my head!!!!!!!!!!! My first ever!! Cannot believe it!!! 🤯🥳
@SIBirdClub
So unbelievably excited to see this yesterday.
These are standard Alder cones. I noticed that many of them had red and yellow water droplets. After talking with
@LeifBersweden
and
@PinkfootedGus
we think this is the Tannins in the cones that have stained the water! Astounding.
Very excited to get a surprise visit from a female Crossbill in the garden this afternoon.
I was observing the frogs in the pond when I heard her very quiet "churp churp" about 5 metres behind me.
One of my best views by far, look at that beak!!!
#gardenbirds
#solaceinnature
Outstanding views of the Peaks Lammergeier this morning!🤩
After spending roughly 15 hours at the roost site the bird finally departed at 8:40am when I circled at eye level with us & then glided further over the moors!
Absolutely unforgettable!🙌🦅

@RareBirdAlertUK
Been absolutely overwhelmed by all your lovely messages and shares. You've no idea how much I appreciate it! 🙏

Avid birdwatcher Indy, who is just 14 years old, can identify dozens of birds from their calls alone. More here:
*Parts of this video were filmed before lockdown.
I despair, I absolutely despair at the state of our country at the moment.
Just watched this man on a tractor destroying a wildflower verge on a track that is only used by one person.
Bee Orchids, Meadow Brown Butterflies, Thick Legged Flower Beetles, all pollinators, GONE...
I'm Indy's Dad and yet again your name comes up taking another pop at my son. You are not alone in this trend.
Indy is a young man with a love of nature & a desire to share that passion.He should be commended.Trolling a child is at best distasteful and at worst disturbing. ~Mark
The forest is bursting with colour!
Stumbled across a huge flock of 38 Crossbills yesterday. Spent about 30 minutes observing them and enjoying their electric red and yellow plumage. Such great birds. 😍

My heart stopped when I spotted this white Redpoll in the garden yesterday.
Thinking it was an Arctic I got a stack of photos but in the end it turned out to be a leucistic Lesser Redpoll! Very cool to see.
Can anybody think of a suitable name for this little snowball? ❄
So excited to see my first Green Tiger Beetles of the year today! A classic heath, moor and grassland species.
This is the first one I've ever had on my hand and it was a joy, such gorgeous iridescent colours.
Excited to have the opportunity to survey a fab bit of SSSI Ancient woodland today. Packed full of Spotted Flycatchers, Redstarts, Lesser Spotted Woodpeckers, Hawfinches, Ravens and much more.
With no disturbance from dogs or people this area is just what we need to see more of.
Our first real snow for the last 5 years, so I couldn't turn down the perfect opportunity to * capture these little stunners!
*shove a snowball down my dads shirt.
#winterwatch
Some of my favourite shots of the 3 Waxwings on North Road in Retford yesterday.
🏡
The second photo shows the tongue of the bird flicking the berry up before it swallows it. While showing off their ginormous quiff at the same time!😎

Indy's Dad again.I obviously won't be reacting to every negative comment Indy faces. However this guy has been trolling Indy for a bit on different platforms.
Indy is a gentle kind soul, his grace, spirit and humour will always triumph.Nature is his life.
Thank you all.~Mark
From night, to day! 🦇
At 4pm yesterday afternoon I watched this gorgeous Pipistrelle Bat feeding next to my house.
🏡
It must've been disturbed from its roosting site but because of the sheer amount of insects that could be found, it had intentions of going back! 😋🦋🦇
Yesterday I set up my very own
#wildlife
hide in my garden, focusing on a drinking pool that I keep topped up all year round.
Day 1 was a big success with this Pied Wagtail being the absolute star of the show!
Lets see what I can get today!🤔📸💧🦅

Had an unforgettable experience today ringing Goshawk chicks (under licence) in The Forest of Dean with
@glosraptors
.
Holding these little forest phantoms has been a dream of mine for so long, big thanks to
@TigerGaret
for making it a reality.

The pool has reached it's absolute peak! 5 CROSSBILLS 😱😱 (2 males, 2 females and 1 juvenile) came down for a drink twice this morning!
💧
A COMPLETE surprise whilst tucking into my cornflakes!😅 Hopefully they will continue to use it over the coming weeks! 🤞
#solaceinnature
Another lockdown list tick!✔️
💛
A stunning pair of Yellow Wagtail arrived yesterday afternoon and spent the rest of the day feeding on the muck heap catching little flies and tiny grubs.
Just gorgeous birds! 🤩

A truly unforgettable experience up in the Derbyshire Peaks this morning!
The Lammergeier circled at eye level with us for 30s before drifting off over the hills!
Made my 18 hours of no sleep well worth it!😴😅
Look how close it was to us!👇🦅
@BirdGuides
@RareBirdAlertUK
No words, absolutely no words.
Out birding with a mate in Sherwood Forest and we walked up onto the Pit Top and a SNOW BUNTING flies right in front of us calling. It tried to land but it eventually flew north flying right over my garden.
Utterly incredible!🥳
#thoresbybirds
Very excited to share that myself and
@JackBaddams
will be on
#Springwatch
tonight!!!!🌿
Talking about a teenie tiny Woodpecker which spends most of its time high in the tree tops and keeps very quiet all year, apart from a very short period during the spring 👀
@BBCSpringwatch
Whilst casually tucking into my breakfast, I noticed I wasn't the only one doing so.
Out of my living room window I noticed this Goshawk chasing a Pheasant.
As you'd imagine, the Pheasant was no match for the phantom of the forest, but it did leave a good tale (feather) to tell.
Currently sitting in a frosty field with my back up against a fence line, watching the sun set. The Goshawks causing havoc with the wood pigeons all around me.
The BEST way to spend the evening.

The newest birds to use the pool are these epic House Martins!
💧
They are collecting mud to build their nests; because of the water shortage they are travelling a long way to find it as they don't nest in the area.
Also check out the bird in the second photo! That bandana! 😎😂
Over the moon to receive this award from

Over the past week I've been photographing a few of the hundreds and hundreds of Fieldfares, Redwing and Mistle Thrush that have descended on the berry trees in front of my house.
Watching these stunning birds has been the perfect way to kick off winter! ❄🦅
@BBCSpringwatch
"All l want for Christmas, is a Goshawk."
This is my third Christmas in a row seeing Goshawks, best Xmas present ever! 🦅
I hope you've all had a good day.

!
Bees are incredible, in the UK we have around 270 species of bee and roughly 250 of those are Solitary Bees. These guys live alone, they will make little chambers to lay their eggs, either in the ground, in walls or hollow twigs. They are all awesome! 😍🐝
This is your annual reminder to look up over the winter!
It's always a big joy of mine each winter to appreciate the silhouetted beauty within woodlands.
Particularly this perfect display of crown shyness shown in birches in
@RSPBSherwood
.

NATURE NERDS!!!!!!!!!!
This is as good as it gets gang. A young Adder falling victim to a Green Tiger Beetle larvae! From their little vertical chambers, GTB larvae usually take prey like ants or spiders but this is insane! INCREDIBLE! 🤯🎉
Fantastic captures by Tracy Farrer 📸
Listen, I know I bang on about Goshawks, A LOT, but looooook!!
2 adults just chased a Juvenile out of their territory directly over the most excited teenager on the planet and my house!! 🤯
#goshawksrule
Really interesting Crossbill action in the garden yesterday.
This pair turned up out for the blue for a drink in the pool but instead, they spent 20 minutes doing this.
The male seemed to be feeding the female in courtship. Really cool behaviour! ❌💵
A few snaps of the brilliant 2 Barred Crossbill that turned up on my patch a few weeks ago (no sign for over a week).
A real joy to find and observe. First record for Nottinghamshire since 1885! Such a gorgeous bird! 🔥

Exactly a week until the start of
@8outof10bats
!!
To celebrate, here is a cute clip of an Otter from the Isle of Mull. They are just 1 of many water dwelling species we will be talking about on the show!
Tune in next Monday (23rd Oct) at 7:30pm.🍂🦫🐾
It's very rare that you find what you are looking for 100m into your walk, but occasionally it all works out!
Ecstatic to find this young Cuckoo being fed by Robin parents in
@RSPBSherwood
this week. Very obliging yet mobile sticking very close to the footpath.
@BBCSpringwatch
Absolutely ecstatic to find this GORGEOUS Cuckoo chick being fed by a pair of Robins in
@RSPBSherwood
.
Finding a chick has always been a dream of mine.I knew it was going to be good, but not this good.Hearing about the life cycle of Cuckoos is crazy enough, actually seeing it!🤯
A sublime lone walk out on
#RSPBBudby
tonight!
With the welcome company of a Nightjar, Woodlark, Noctule Bat, Crossbills and the distant "kronk" "kronk" of a Raven.
Absolute bliss! 😊🦅🌄🦇
A textbook tour with
@Nature_Scotland
today.
My first ever PINE MARTEN!!!!, 10 Hen Harrier including 3 fledged chicks and my first ever food pass, plus some PHENOMENAL Golden Eagles views just metres above the group, as well as 20+ Common Dolphin, WT Eagle and 2 Otters! Bliss!!!
A top quality day volunteering in
@RSPBSherwood
creating some open glades and making some Solitary Bee banks and scrapes.
Hopefully in the summer this area will be full of Solitary bees and wasps and some awesome beetles calling these sandy banks their home.🐝

An autumnal male Sparrowhawk.🍂
I photographed this individual a few weeks ago and I can tell this is an older individual by the eye colour.
Young Sparrowhawks have a more yellow/green eye whereas older individuals have an orange eye!

Walking through St Andrews (Scotland) this afternoon and these happy chaps land RIGHT NEXT TO ME!
WAXWINGS!😍🍂🍒
(in case your timeline wasn't already inundated enough with these birds ;-) )
@Natures_Voice
In a tall bush 2 metres from my front door sits one of natures best masterpieces.

Unbelievable first day on the Isle of Islay with
@Nature_Scotland
.
Otter, Black and Great Northern Diver, White Fronted Geese, Crossbills, Hen Harrier and possibly my best ever wildlife encounter yet. A White Tailed Eagle taking a Barnacle Goose IN FLIGHT!!!!
#ecotourism
As first days go, this was pretty incredible!
Not only did I see my first ever Sundew, but I saw a Sundew with prey! 🤯
These are incredible carnivorous plants that trap small insects with their sticky tendrills and then digest them into the plant!
Buzzing! 🎉
#IsleofMull
Sorry more Woodlark photos!☹️😏😎
Views too good to ignore in the garden again today!😍
This gorgeous pair have been here for nearly a month now. They have been the BEST alarm clock and have just been a joy to watch and photograph!📸🦅

Loving the war zone life. As are the Pied Wagtails which have been flushed and are now flying around disoriented from their local roost. F*cking fireworks
Very humbled and proud to receive this award, thank you so much

So excited when I found this hibernating Queen Wasp in a fence post today!
All the workers die but the queen hibernates through the winter. Then she lays eggs in the spring for the next season & then those are workers that build her nest & collect food!🐝
