Chaotic scene tonight outside the Brooklyn Center Police Department where it seems the police and military greatly out number protesters. They are shooting from tanks.
Hey, we’re going to be ramping up our presence here in the days leading up to the beginning of the trial on 3/8.
It’s going to be difficult but, please help us keep the dialogue centered on the messages of this movement.

In Derek Chauvin’s trial we were led to believe that he was an outlier.
Every passing day shows that was yet another in the panoply of lies told by the Minneapolis Police Department and their enablers.
Amir Locke is dead because of more lies and a murderous status quo.
It seems that the narrative of needing to reopen couldn’t even wait until the morning.
We have told the city what justice looks like to us: …
Make a couple calls. Numbers and example script below.

As we continue to see increased occupation over the coming days and weeks, remember, this is exactly what the State wants.
This occupation (under OSN) has been being planned since last year.
The response to Daunte Wrights murder accelerated it but, this was planned.
@sammysacutiepie
Community members were able to intervene and stop this person’s tantrum.
We believe in people over property and therefore did not try to directly engage with this person.
Call for Artists!
George Floyd Square is seeking BIPOC artists to help create additional public art installations at the Square this weekend.
DM us to coordinate!
If you are a twin cities property owner (either residential or commercial) and are unhappy with the use of your property as a staging area for a military occupation you can call 311 and inform them that the National Guard is unwelcome on your property.
In case anyone is wondering: dying from COVID after not getting a vax or wearing a mask is considered a “line-of-duty” death.
Being a delivery driver is 1) more dangerous and 2) provides more public service than being a cop.
@DocumentingMN
MNFF stood between cops and protestors, facing protestors, pushing the umbrella line back, destroying equipment. Directly told a protestor “if I catch you throwing something I’m gonna knock your ass out.”
When there are no peaceful police,
There cannot be peace policing
16% of respondents to a survey that didn’t include an option to not reopen voted for
#NoJusticeNoStreet
.
That’s the story.
81% didn’t even realize there was another choice.
This is weaponized study design and weaponized data at work.
Get loud y’all.
#GFS24Demands
George Floyd Square survey results are in: 81% of respondents on a city questionnaire offered to residents and businesses within a half-mile of 38th Street and Chicago Avenue supported one of two reopening options officials proposed in February.
Hey there
@WCCO
@kstp
and
@kare11
feel free to stop being a nuisance in the sky and actually send some reporters down here to build relationships and talk to community members about why we’re here.
Holding law enforcement to account is difficult to do from the sky.
This is how people get killed. This is how people get traumatized. This is how people feel unsafe. They say they are here to solve the burglaries and crimes while at the same time barging into peoples homes with guns and armor on bad information and no justification.
All Call For People:
4/12 7:00P.M.
A healing candlelight vigil and celebration of life has been requested by family.
Bring LED candles due to wind and rain. 63rd Ave N and Kathrene Dr. (Where Daunte Wright was murdered)

If only Minneapolis had a place where we could acknowledge the importance of racial justice. A place where the community could come together, with gardens, artwork, amd memorials. A place like George Floyd Square? Wouldn’t that be wonderful,
@MayorFrey

Join the community in building connections to local labor groups in the spirit of the radical South Minneapolis May Day celebration. Come meet with unions and co-ops to learn about different models of people power and how to foster a symbiotic relationship.

If you’ve been brutalized by the cops these past few nights plz dm photos or post them in this thread. Try not to post anything identifying and DM if you need help concealing identity. We are compiling them so world bears witness to “keepers of the peace”

Nina and I will continue to follow up on this. For reference, here are protesters attempting to extinguish a tear gas canister shot into someone's porch directly across from the police department 2 nights ago.
The people running this city of Minneapolis are going to try to tell you Derek Chauvin is an outlier, the chief is going to get up there and testify and absolve himself and all our elected from accountability.
I can't believe this isn't a bigger story in Minneapolis.
@MNReformer
just outed a coordinated campaign btwn non-Minneapolis residents, City Council members, the Chief, & the Mayor to promote MPD under the guise of "concerned citizens" 🤬 via

CW Sexual Assault:
A 25 yo woman was assaulted at the home of her mother’s ex bf. He dropped her off at GFS. We sat with her, called her dad, took her to Abbott to get a kit and file a police report.
Someone is saying it happened at GFS.
This is why we record everything.
It has been 22 days since the Attorney General’s office said they were investigating Minneapolis Police Officer Mark Hanneman for murdering Amir Locke.

Let’s be clear: The brave men and women of the Minnesota National Guard are our neighbors.
They’re teachers, health care workers, and business owners who live in communities across our state.
This is unacceptable. They can’t “go home” — this is their home.
It has been 18 days since the Attorney General’s office said they were investigating Minneapolis Police Officer Mark Hanneman for murdering Amir Locke.

Second: Get your friends who that are committed to anti-racism and fighting white-supremacy to follow us. We’ll be providing counterpoints to the city and MPD throughout the trial.
Think of your likes and retweets as tools. They help increase your and our reach. Use them.
It’s important to understand that organizational culture is dictated by those who do the training. This is the organization telling you who they intend to be.
A Minneapolis officer who once was fired for his role in the seizure of cellphones during a police raid but later reinstated has been placed in charge of all training for the Minneapolis police.
The only people unwelcome here (and they still come harass/slow roll/parade at will) are MPD.
That’s it.
It’s really not difficult to comprehend.
Others are trying really hard to spin narratives which simply aren’t true.
#NoJusticeNoStreet
Here’s an example:
Arradondo: "If anyone can look me in the eyes and say that intersection is contributing to peace and safety... we have a problem". The briefing has ended.
Ok, oral arguments started today.
It's about to get real.
No matter what the defense says, George Floyd was murdered. He is not on trial. Derek Chauvin is on trial.
Hold your people. Drink water. Stay strong.

Can we just give
@UR_Ninja
the People's Pulitizer?
Honestly, who hasn't depended on their coverage for all the work we do? From police violence to stopping pipelines, they are the people's media. Support them!
Solidarity forever.
Solidarity to Brooklyn Center; to Elizabeth City; to Chicago; to Los Angeles; to Toronto; to Rio; to Beijing; to Moscow; to Kiev; to Ho Chi Minh City; to Cairo; to Paris; to Naypyidaw; to Perth; to Buenos Aires; to Houston.

How can you help?
First: If you see someone on here or elsewhere trying to excuse the actions of Derek Chauvin, Tao Thao, J. Alexander Kueng, Thomas Lane, or MPD please remind them that no one deserves to be murdered by Derek Chauvin or police. EVER!

This is a wonderful gesture. The people of Ukraine are having their sovereignty and autonomy stripped from them by deadly force. We stand with them.
Armed militants coming into one’s home uninvited is familiar.
The city of Minneapolis has its own work to do.
#NoJusticeNoStreet
The I-35W Bridge in Minneapolis will glow blue and yellow tonight and through the weekend in support of the people of Ukraine. 🇺🇦
We stand united with Ukrainians here in Minnesota and around the world.

40 year old man Andrew Brown was fatally shot by a sheriff’s deputy in Elizabeth City, North Carolina this MORNING. 6-8 shots were fired and he was killed in his car. Brown was unarmed and a father of 10 children. Say his name.
This tweet has more engagement than the postcard the city sent out supposedly indicating “strong support” for “opening” the square.
It has also been seen by over 75k people or roughly a fifth of the population of Minneapolis.

GFGM is legit run by good people. An effort to do museums in anti-colonial, black liberatory manner. They have been OTG for a long time. Come visit their pop up remembrance in the square.
Good morning. We're getting our twitter sea legs. Can you help us out? We're busy preserving the memorial at 38th and Chicago in Minneapolis, MN. Are there a few angels out there who want to help our little twitter account fly?
Third: You have likely seen a story coming out today about the city designating 6 accounts as their mouthpieces throughout the trial.
Don't listen to those accounts.
The city is trying to buy opinions and influence.
Tell your friends.
#FreyBuys
The city of Minneapolis is finalizing contracts with 6 social media influencers/“trusted messengers” to share “city-generated and approved messages” and dispel misinformation. Each will be paid $2,000 to share information during Derek Chauvin's trial:
"Instead of committing to police reform and transparency – or acknowledging the growing threat of the far right – the city of Minneapolis is, in the words of city councilman Jeremiah Ellison, 'showing up ready for war'."
YUUUUUUUUP
“were held in the bus without heat for 4 hours. a comrade needed medical assistance with pepper spray aftermath and was not given attention. they passed out on the bus, seem to be alright now. people are being held 15+ to small cells and have no access to water, food, or beds."
So… the response to a couple people doing donuts is… doing heli-donuts over the entire metro…
This is fully funded and staffed policing “working.”
Cool.

The fight is still on for the 24 demands and we need your help.
We need people in the other wards to help create the pressure necessary for city council to move forward on the path of justice and equity.

This Friday, movie night is back!!!
We'll be watching Antz.
Yes, the 1998 terrifyingly designed Dr3amWorks classic. We'll be using it as a jumping off point to talk about the movement in Minneapolis and around the United States.
Come ready to discuss and eat free popcorn! 🍿
