We urge all neighbors to refrain from panic buying & hoarding of fuel. There is no gas shortage in Gainesville or across the state, only temporary fuel outages at area gas stations due to panic buying. Most of the fuel to our area arrives from the Port of Tampa via Jacksonville.

Last night we closed Lit for violation of occupancy limits & other issues. We've received NUMEROUS complaints from neighbors. Our enforcement of COVID-regulations are hindered by the Gov’s exec order, but our occupancy limits & other code violations are being strictly enforced.

We are sad to announce the passing of former commissioner and mayor, Stuart “Craig” Lowe. Lowe served the people of Gainesville as the first District 4 commissioner from 2003 until 2010. He then made history as the city’s first openly gay mayor, serving until 2013.

Our City Commission approved funding, adding 2 more mental health counselors from Meridian to serve on GPD’s Co-Responders Teams (CRT). Started in 2018, the CRT program has 4 teams on duty (pairing 1 police officer w/1 clinician) who render mental health aid to neighbors in need.
