This isn't a case of guilt by association. Trump's bigoted rhetoric against Muslims and promotion of fear of them serves as fuel for the fire of anti-Muslim bigotry and I fear where the next attack will take place as many, like Trump, promote this dangerous dehumanizing rhetoric.

Lest there be any confusion, the tyrants of this region want all of us critics silent; dead, tortured or imprisoned. To what extent we're not is a product of concern about consequences. If Khashoggi was murdered and there are no consequences expect many to follow MBS' example

When the New Administrative Capital was announced Egyptians were promised the state wouldn't pay a penny for it. All costs would be covered with land swaps; both from land in Cairo after ministries were moved and the land given to developers in the new capital.

I would encourage everyone to disregard anything Trump is saying about Beirut right now. He doesn't know what's happening with Covid in the country he governs. He's almost certainly not paying serious attention to developments half way around the world.

If people want to boycott French products in response to ongoing bigotry against French Muslims that's their choice, but it's hard to take govt officials seriously when they're simultaneously silent on or supportive of China as it literally puts Muslims in concentration camps.

Urgent: #Erdogan has called for a boycott of French products - following boycott calls in Qatar, Iran, Jordan and Kuwait - as well as condemnation from Morocco after France displayed images of the Prophet Mohammad that Muslims consider blasphemous. #Turkey

Amro Adib is the most watched talk show host in Egypt. He has called on authorities to stop preventing supporters of Ahmed El Tantawy from giving him their endorsment. Now asks Sisi to let press speak freely. He's not saying this without powerful backers

@Goalie_Mikey @mtlgazette @EducationQC My criticisms of Egypt are well documented. I don't see the point of such whataboutism. Every condescending idiot deserves to be condemned on their own, regardless of the existence of others elsewhere.

Nope. War with Iran would be way way worse. Quadruple the land mass, more than double the population, far better military, proxies throughout the region & a population that already witnessed how badly we failed in Iraq and wants nothing like that for themselves or their families.

BREAKING Heavily armed security apparatus in America's largest city declared "war" on its civilian leader after he supported reforms to end abuses, including wrongful deaths perpetrated by security apparatus. NYPD has a budget that wld rank 36th in the world in defense spending
Mayor DeBlasio, the members of the NYPD are declaring war on you! We do not respect you, DO NOT visit us in hospitals. You sold the NYPD to the vile creatures, the 1% who hate cops but vote for you. NYPD cops have been assassinated because of you. This isn’t over, Game on!

12 years ago, we loudly reminded the world that sovereignty belongs to the people. Standing shoulder to shoulder for those historic 18 days will always be the proudest time of my life. Egypt belongs to its people, not to its military nor to its regime. #Jan25

The Saudis calling for restraint against escalation with Iran. Saudi Arabia, one of America's most vociferously anti-Iran allies, led by MBS, one of the region's most reckless leaders, are understandably spooked by this recklessness. They know there's no plan to manage fallout.

8 years ago, President Sisi told Egyptians to be patient & they 'd enjoy fruits of development within 2 years Since then Egyptians endured multiple financial crises, a collapse in purchasing power, historic levels of inflation & rising poverty. Worse yet, the outlook is awful 🧵
