We’re keeping the Pride bus on the road for another month, in response to the recent hate-motivated attack at
@UWaterloo
.
When events like this occur, it’s a painful reminder that progress isn’t linear, and that hate and violence still exist in our community.

Some-bunny has been busy today!
We know you carrot lot, so while

Hare's hopping fur a reunion soon.
A customer spotted this lost bunny from a passing bus and worried that it’s very important to someone.
The bunny has been rescued from the shelter at Belmont and Highland, and is safe at lost and found.
Please share to help us reunite the

The difference a decade makes!
ION light rail service launched on this day in 2019. It has transformed not only how we get around, but also the shape of our region.
This is King Street at Moore Avenue, looking toward downtown Kitchener, in 2013 and today.

Some folks were asking for an update on our

We’re excited that 29 new hybrid buses are rolling out on the streets of Waterloo Region this spring! You’ll be able to spot them by the blue/green decal along the roof. They’re replacing 29 buses from 2007-08 that are being retired, including 6 hybrids and 23 diesel-only buses.
Hey students! 👋 Welcome to Waterloo Region! Here's a few things we thought you should know. 🧵
First: they're called Canada geese, not Canadian geese. Don't approach them. They seem chill, right up until they decide to hunt pedestrians.
Say hello to Ryder! That's the name you picked for
#lostbunny
in our poll.
We'd still love to find his original family, but Ryder will have a home at GRT for as long as he needs it!
And there it is! The first of 11 electric buses we’ll be adding to our fleet in 2024. The bus will head out on the road for testing next week, then start picking up passengers later in February. You’ll see it first on Routes 6 and 21. 🚍 🔋
We’re still hoping to find
#lostbunny
’s family, but for now, it will have a home at GRT!
We’ve got the ad-hop-tion papers all ready, but we’re not sure what name to put on them! What do you think bunny’s name should be? (And no, we're not calling it Bunny McBunface!) 🐰
Here’s a sneak peek at one of our 4 new mid-sized buses!
They’re 9 metres long and have 24 seats (vs 12m and ~35 seats on a regular bus).
They’ll be used on routes with tighter turns and where they’re more suited to ridership levels, starting with Route 27 this spring.
All buses, MobilityPLUS & trains are running as of Sat., Feb. 1.
Apply for a 50% refund on your January monthly pass.
FREE weekend service during the month of Feb. up to & incl. Feb. 29. Free service on Family Day., Mon., Feb. 17.

This little bus stop is kind of a big deal; it’s the first shared cycle track stop in Waterloo Region!
This new stop at King and University fills a gap in the protected bike lane along King Street and protects cyclists and transit riders from right-turning traffic.

Happy Pride! We’re thrilled to unveil our special Pride bus wrap. The Pride bus will be heading out on different routes across the Region of Waterloo during the month of June! ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜🖤🤎🤍

We’re making service adjustments in 2023 to better meet the needs of the community and build a better transit network.
The plan, approved during the budget process, includes new weekend service, extra service on crowded routes and restoring late night service on some routes.

Beginning March 19 until at least April 5, customers should board and exit through the rear doors of the bus.
Only customers with mobility devices are permitted to board through the front doors.
You do not need to tap your fare card on the farebox.
Wilfrid Laurier students have voted in favour of keeping the Universal Transit Pass program in place until at least 2025.
We’re thrilled at the strong show of support for the U-Pass; 75% of graduate students and 88% of undergraduate students supported continuing the program!
Use the Force.

The first of 4 new 2022 hybrid buses hits the road tomorrow! The only difference you’ll spot is the battery case on the roof, until our new decals are added.
We’re switching to hybrid & electric buses as our diesel buses are replaced, reducing our greenhouse gas emissions!
Do you remember our little

This year’s Pride bus design is a celebration of different sexualities and gender identities. It’s our hope that all members of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community see themselves reflected in the Pride bus and know that we welcome, celebrate and support them.

The Pride bus will continue to operate on different routes across Waterloo Region, as a visible symbol of our commitment to creating a safe and inclusive environment.

This winter, we’re improving our snow clearing at bus stops. Bus stops will now be cleared within 48 hours, instead of 72 hours.
Snow clearing starts 24 hours after a snow event, to allow time for roads to be cleared first. Our contractors clear more than 2,500 stops. (1/2)
That’s when it becomes even more important to stand up, to speak out, and to make sure the members of our community who are affected know that we stand with them.
