New Projector review! I review Alex Garland's divisive and ambitious new film Civil War (and nearly deafen myself in IMAX), but one thing I definitely don't think is that it is as "apolitical" as some of it's critics claim it to be....

This erasing of shows and films for short-sighted tax purposes is disgusting and hugely disrespectful to the creators. This is the modern day equivalent of tape wiping, and something WB will go on to be hugely embarrassed by.

There's something very funny about the fact that James Somerton, a gay man, apparently has to resort to not just plagiarising critical ideas, but even when describing concepts like coming out, that he could have easily just written himself from his own personal experience.

Got to love the Russos: since Endgame, they have given us the inside of Tom Holland's butt hole, the single most mediocre action film ever made in The Gray Man, and are working on TikTok Hercules. Basically, they've been given carte blanche to be wildly, prolifically awful.

People treating Robert Pattinson like it's 2009 need to check what year it is. The guy has spent this decade almost entirely in arthouse cinema, where he's carved a name for himself as a soulful, daring, brooding actor. In other words, a great fit for Batman.

Can't think of nothing more fitting for the 100th anniversary of two major studios (WB and Disney) than a massive combined actors and writers strike that has halted almost all production. You get the birthday gifts you deserve.

"Dad bod" has lost any semblance of meaning, and is being used to apply to men the same kind of unattainable, deeply harmful beauty standards that have been used against women for decades.

John Barrowman, currently on a "sorry you felt that way" tour for exposing himself, feeling the need to try and tag the filmmakers involved to let them know how much their movie sucked, like a real professional. This is the kind of thing a second-rate troll does.

For comparison's sake, here is the 2015 2K Lowry master of True Lies (that the 4K is upscaled from), screengrabbed from Disney+, which gives us a good idea of the amount of totally fake, unnecessary AI detail the Park Row software hallucinated. James Cameron approved *this*.

I'm not certain this is AI, and I don't think it is helpful to say it is. It is, however, aggressively noise-reduced and over-sharpened to compensate for the lost detail. You don't need AI to do that. That's what happened to Predator. And it looks like T2's awful remaster.

Who could have seen this coming? A $200 million+ tentpole that arrives after the star commits a crime spree, sidelined the title character in marketing, arrived to hugely negative buzz, and widely mocked for garish overuse of poor CGI... Oh, wait, everyone.

This isn't just Apple, it pretty much puts every streaming service on trial. Also, yes, buying digitally is more of a long-term rental than actually owning it like a physical copy. If the rights expire or change, it can vanish from your collection and you have no recourse.

"Look, if I interfered constantly, then it will become a better film!" This has been rarely true in the history of film. And it wouldn't have been a weirdo movie where the day is saved by alien cats eating people to safety, all while "Memory" from Cats plays.

I think Samuel L. Jackson was shaken of the disposition to chase for an Oscar the night he lost for Pulp Fiction. He just does what he wants to do - and I've rarely - if ever - seen a movie where he's phoning it in.

The worst thing isn't just that he broke the embargo, it is that he admitted to watching *pirated unreleased material*, and did so specifically so that he could jump the embargo. And then goes "I'm entitled to do that". No, that makes you totally unprofessional.
