A short walk from St Pancras will take you to St Pancras' Old Church, whose cemetery contains the Hardy Tree - an ash tree surrounded by hundreds of displaced gravestones placed there by a young Thomas Hardy during the construction of the Midland Line in the 1860s.

Bruges, is possibly the most photogenic city in the world. Summer or winter, wherever you look you see scenes from postcards. With its charming medieval step-roofed houses and imposing churches reflected in the still waters of the canals, it's almost too picturesque to be real.

If you happen to take a stroll down Amsterdam’s Westerstraat, look out for an oddity : even house numbers jump from 54 to 70. Look closer and you’ll see seven tiny houses stacked in the narrow space between the two buildings, one for each missing number.
