Between this and the elephant found half-burried by it's herd, I think its time we really consider at what level other species are actual sophonts that we've been mistreating for centuries for not being "human enough"
I love how they just said "There's no orangutans in India" and thought the best solution was bringing a 350k yo prehistoric monkey back to life without elaborating. I unironically love this kind of stuff.
More extinct animals in completely unrelated media plz
Still can't fathom how Sturdlefish are a thing.
How the fuck are two species from different families with a last common ancestor in the Jurassic able to somehow hybridize even in this weird, umbalanced way
@jonkristinsson
A lot of times when people say โbad cgiโ what they really mean is that they donโt like the art direction but lack the vocabulary to articulate that.
@AndTartary
My man putting all the fossils of those exact animals that have changed overtime but not at a superficial level so the untrained eye wont see the difference. Yeah your are so smart want your price now?
Have you ever just... stared at a Paleoart piece completely in silence and with a gaping mouth when you see it in good quality for the first time?
That's the effect John Gurche's Saurolophus nesting colony from 1993 has in me.
So I'll mke a thread giving all of the fictional and semi-fictional creatures shown in Genndy Tartakovsky's
#Primal
a scientific name because it's fun basically.
Wait a fucking minute I always thought that Toucans and Hornbills were related and I just discovered they are from totally different orders. What the hell???
What are y'all's thoughts on The Isle right now?
I like to play from time to time and evrima has a lot of potential but development is slow af, they want too add too many playable dinos and Dondi is a straight up asshole so...

Moa birds were large herbivorous birds that were hunted and outcompeted to extinction by humans and domestic animals brought with them ๐ฌ. Also who said anything about cloning yet?
The skull of Inostrancevia africana, from the latest Permian of South Africa, compared to a modern lion ๐ฆ.

It was long believed to be strictly from Russia, but recent findings in Zambia by
@ChristianSidor
and South Africa now make it a cosmopolitan genus.
Am I the only one who hates that the Big Floppa meme was ever a thing?
Idk actual data but I dont think a caracal should be seen as a trendy pet. Also most of the ones you see in videos are severely overweight
The old alamosaurus death in Prehistoric Planet season 2 was on is scene that is sad, peaceful and beautiful at the same time. I dont know how to describe the feeling correctly but I love it so much
Another example of this that I remember are the mosasaurs in the first Aquaman. I dont like it as much since it's basicallly and armoured JW mosasaurs but it's a neat thing to see
What I really find depressing about Primal season 2 is that Spear and Fang came from fighting other beings that were, as well as them, trying to survive (with the exception of the ape men) to get to know all kinds of man made horrors like slavery, war, imperial power, etc...
@Lincdblair
Imagine that, being the last of his kind, he still remember stories told by his people about prehistoric humans discovering fire and that's why he's obsessed with it when there's more advanced things that humans have like metals and guns (?
@AndTartary
Also you putting photos of the living animals, a closer look into the bones can make differences more evident. Ex. you just put a Champsosaur skull next to a Gharial, two animals that aren't even related and have different anatomy. Stop spreading misleading shit plz
I have the theory that the Jurassic world Iguanodon is actually based on Mantellisaurus. That would explain the small thumb spike and smaller size (1/2)
@TMS_Stoneaxe
I mean, elephants being sapiente does not mean cow being sapiente, but I agree. It could change a lot about the way we treat animals in general
