When I was growing up in Pakistan as a kid, my mum used to write on a takhti (wooden board) in pencil which I'd then go over with ink to help me with my writing. Realised it's very similar to the Welsh writing slate. Kinda lush. #amwriting

Idk who needs to hear this, but really learn to LOVE your writing. Like really love and believe in it and feel excited by it. Not whether others will love it. That only matters to an extent. But when you learn to love your own work, that's when you're free to make magic.

This week I'm behind on my thesis and a couple of projects and I feel low-key stressed about, but I've been more happy, healthy, and content down to my bones lately, and that's all that matters sometimes, especially if you have depression!

This seems scary to admit, but it took me 3 years to find my true writing voice, yet we try to force novels out in a year or two and it seems alien to me to be so production driven and to not sit with the process enough.

Really needed this walk in the sun around a partly frozen Roath Lake today. You can see that the water is icy where the sun doesn't hit it directly. Actually felt the warmth of the sun after what seems like forever. 10/10 would recommend.
