This summer, Cara and I had our boys sign reading contracts. If Noah read 1,000 pages he could choose an experience. He agreed and asked to attend his first @NBA game. Noah read almost 1,100 pages this summer. So, here we are for @Lakers at @Timberwolves .

Quick background: I told @drakepresident on Wed. that if @DrakeSoftball won MVC Tourney, it would mean our seniors would miss graduation. He immediately asked if we could perform ceremony for them on field after championship game. Amazing. Please thank Marty for his leadership.

It’s a great time to be a Bulldog! There are 3️⃣5️⃣1️⃣ schools playing @NCAA Division I basketball. As of Feb 28, only 9️⃣ schools can claim MBB & WBB teams that are 1st in their respective conferences. @DrakeUniversity is one of those schools. Way to go @DrakeBulldogsMB & @DrakeWBB !

Knapp Center renovation update: Corner infills that will host high-top tables & chairs are done. Framing for tunnels that will have corner bleachers & loge boxes attached are completed. Southside seating design taking shape. Sports medicine & hydrotherapy center is coming along.

Really tough day in Hardin home. Our beloved dog, Jaxson, had to be put to sleep after breaking a leg where a cancerous tumor had developed. Jax was a wonderful member of our family who brought us all immense joy. I can’t imagine a better dog for a young family. We ❤️you, Jax!

What an atmosphere at Knapp Center today! Fantastic game between @DrakeWBB & Iowa today. This game was great for both teams but it was also great for fans of both schools & our state. I love the women’s hoops teams of all four D1 schools play each other annually in campus gyms.

This is a really big deal that I hope everyone acknowledges & celebrates. @DrakeUniversity had more football student-athletes earn Academic All-America honors than any NCAA Division I school this year! That includes schools like Stanford, Alabama, Navy, etc. Great job, Bulldogs!

After nine days in @blankchildrens that featured an emergency appendectomy and a subsequent surgery to fix a small intestine blockage, Noah finally returned home today. We are grateful to all the docs, nurses & staff that helped Noah get better & were supportive of our family.

So proud of all three boys tonight at #GrandBlueMile . Noah ran a negative split en route to fastest time in family. Elliot was fastest 8 year old in field finishing in 7:22. Bennett, who was born with CDH and basically one lung, ran whole way and was most pleased with his run.

Thanks to the wonderful doctors & nurses of @blankchildrens for looking after Noah. They identified the perforated appendix thru scans this morning and removed it this afternoon. Noah is recovering from surgery & should head home in a few days once the meds beat the infection.

@PerchedGridiron @TheAAF So sources say #DSMUSA could be considered for possible @TheAAF expansion team. Quick Wikipedia research shows that half the teams in league currently average less than 12,000 fans per game. If only there was a football stadium in Des Moines with capacity around 15,000...🤔

Received great email from @MVCsports office with an update on this year's All-Sports Standings. With 4 championships remaining, @DUBulldogs is in 1st place! This is significant because only 1 private school has ever won the MVC All-Sports Trophy & it hasn't happened since 1961!

Every night at family dinner, we sit with the boys & ask for their favorite part of that day. Today is easy for me. After complaining about not getting lunch yesterday, Noah surprised me by packing me a lunch so I wouldn’t go hungry today. Even included a freeze-pack. Amazing!

Yes, @UNImbb deserves to be in the field. They pass the eye test, have a good NET ranking, and have beaten the high major teams on their schedule. UNI is more deserving to play in March Madness than a team from the bottom half of a power 5 conference.
