By side-stepping the elected Wet'suwet'en council, the government is legitimizing the right of self-proclaimed, unelected chiefs to be the true voice of their people. They have as much right to negotiate on behalf of the Wet'suwet'en as I do for Alberta; that is, none.

Over the past three days, there have been frank and substantive discussions, guided by Wiggus (respect), on the complex issues with respect to Wet'suwet'en rights and title. The result is a draft arrangement that will be reviewed by the Wet'suwet'en clan members.
