Today 01 Muharram 1443 Hijri (10-11 August 2021) marks the 443rd anniversary of the foundation of the city of Hyderabad by Sultan Muhammad Quli Qutb Shah. Hyderabad was founded on 01-01-1000 Hijri (1591 CE) and the Charminar was the first building to be built in the new city.

Five years ago on this day, I started a lazy anonymous blog trying to rewrite Deccan’s history without false narratives. The vision behind the blog was to expand it into a digital repository of all study material about the Deccan under one roof, physically and digitally.
At around 11 AM on 28 of September 1908, a great wave of floodwaters from the Musi entered the city of Hyderabad. The highest flood level at Afzalgunj was 13 feet from the road level.
