Annnnnd - conceiving of, introducing, and passing legislation is very clearly not the only job of a member of Congress. It's just one part of it. It's also the case that ideas get wrapped into other bills via amendments and mark ups.

Georgia has had "no-excuse" absentee voting for 15 years. Some other states instituted it during the pandemic. After the high voter turnout of the 2020 election, GA Sec. Raffensperger endorsed eliminating it. We should want more people participating, not fewer. #GAVote

More men have problems wearing masks, that’s why we get laws saying it’s not ok to ask people to wear them. Women literally bear the brunt of childbearing, and we get controlling reproductive laws. One key difference is who holds seats of power. Please elect more women.

Saying "X can fix democracy" is the same as thinking a diet pill can propel a body to health while ignoring exercise, food, sleep, etc.. No one thing fixes democracy. Democracy is a process and it takes work in a lot of different ways to keep it healthy.

Takeaway from my first zoom funeral: Ugly crying alone in my home office/bedroom while watching my friends & colleagues trying to keep it together while they are also alone in their own home offices/bedrooms nearly fully encapsulates my feelings towards 2020. This time sucks.
