RBs coach & Dir. of Recruiting | lift heavy, serve gratefully, lead w/ heart | home isn't a place, it's a feeling you get from people who love you
It doesnโt matter how strong, smart or successful you are ...
if you ever played
#OL
seriously, I know youโre built on the most important foundation:
Unselfishness.
Rank the most popular OL coach answers:
1. Run the (damn) ball
2. SPLITS!
3. What time does Ciciโs open?!
4. Shorts > Pants
5. Six-inch step ... move your feet
6. To the sled!
7. Need More Indy
8. Low man wins
9. No sleeves
10. Pancakes & syrup
If you donโt like football, we can *probably* still be friends.
Unless you say something ignorant about linemen. Or if youโve ever yelled โjust block somebodyโ at a game.
Those are the rules.
In 2017, I met
@BobbyButler2
&
@KatieSowers
at an
@AtlantaFalcons
event.
Dan Quinn talked about men AND women in the game that night. It was sincere. It was personal.
Pumped to see her go to
#SuperBowlLIV
to coach & deliver this message loud.
For football. For the future.

If you believe the best DIVISION 1 athletes in the country - women and men - donโt lift more than 200 pounds regularly ... Iโve got some fine beachfront real estate in Iowa to sell you.
โThere is NO GUARANTEE that itโs going to work out, even if you work hard. Thatโs the test. Can you maintain your patience when you donโt know when itโs going to pay off?โ

podcast today โฆ two of my absolute favorite elite thinkers
I want to host a virtual clinic with coaches who present just like this for 1-2 minutes each.
No PowerPoint. No long intro.
Stay to ask questions optional ... rapidly bank new concepts and see how people teach.
Thoughts?
15 years ago, someone very rudely told me I walk like a gym teacher.
As an insult.
I still think about it.
I think I laughed.
My fav gym teacher was my HS football coach. He greatly influenced my confidence in being myself.
I hope I can do the same as a coach.
Celebrating International Woman's day. Special shout out to our amazing running backs coach
@CoachSmith67
Thank you for being an inspiration to many
#goyeo
thank you to Coach Pettine, Coach OโConnell, Coach Modkins & everyone at the
@Vikings
for this incredible experience with an elite staff.
also grateful to
@samrap10
and
@AnneDoepner
for their influence and advocacy.
Football is not just a game.
Itโs lifetime friends, memories, stories.
It reveals and shapes who we really are and who we can be. Itโs fun, frustrating and full of small moments that change us forever.
Itโs celebrating with our team.
Itโs endless sweat. Ice. That smell.
No disrespect to those discussing their wives doing ODK work but:
There are plenty of women (and men) who want to help your programs in these - frankly - ridiculously simple ways ... just ask, or teach them how.
Football is hard to break into ... opportunity is a gift.
โONE DAY:
- you wonโt have a job
- youโll be told you arenโt good enough
- your faith will be tested
- youโll lose a loved one
Donโt flinch and persevere
Hard work pays off but no one tells you when.โ
Spend 5 minutes with
@LewisCaralla
. Youโll want to run through the wall.
do what you love & call it work
thankful for
@CoachLou34
spending so much time talking ball security and RB play - left Chicago a better coach
also honored to meet
@NFL
Womenโs Forum alumni Darby Dunnagan and
@alex_knize
- doing big things for
@NUFBFamily
and women in football
Shoutout to the guy at the butcher shop who saw my hands were full ... and not only let me go ahead in line, but went out of his way to hold the door.
Serving others never goes out of style.
if youโve taken the time to get to know your older neighbors โฆ

thanks to
@artink67
for the amazing work this week put into connecting high school and college coaches
(also so nice to finally meet in person after all these years on Twitter)
one of my goals as a person - whether leading a team in business or as an assistant college football coach - is to be someone you can ALWAYS count on
even if you got a flat tire at 3 a.m. or need help moving
especially if it is inconvenient or hard for me
โIf you can see her, you can be herโ
Thanks to those whoโve given me a platform to do what I love and be an example for the next generation
#InternationalWomensDay
grateful to spend the

doing the thing I love the most
to those who fought to lay the path
to people who continue to open doors
to the ones who still dream it

enjoyed watching top guys show out in Michigan last weekend
easy to see why
@mdwestathletics
showcase at
@Hillsdale_FB
gets
92%+ to college:
a desire to compete and win in the classroom matters!
find me if youโll be at
@NUFBFamily
Chicagoland Camps this weekend!
one of the first coaches who had the largest impact on me as a person
very simply said hi or told me a joke every day before practice
I think about him - and what that small thing did for me - a lot
simply:he saw and accepted me
he cared I was there
it was a gamechanger
Sometimes, as we know, you donโt choose the OL life... it chooses you.
A thread:
About 10 years ago I coached a freshman OL who was 5โ5, *maybe* 130 pounds.
He paid attention, was fast and always played hard.

Someone I just met told me I was extremely positive today.
This was crazy wonderful to hear.
Iโve felt so weighed down the past month.
It was such a great reset to hear the person Iโm projecting matches the person I really am.
Keep showing up.
I love the weight room and football for the same reasons:
try
fail
try again
fail better
get stronger
love the power
fail harder
callous your mind
celebrate small wins
fail more
keep the faith
fight doubt
keep showing up

Being able to watch womenโs football around the country live today was a beautiful thing.
Even better to see so many of my friends playing and coaching.

home isnโt a place โฆ itโs a feeling you get from people who love you.
I say this on our recruiting visits but Iโve lived it โฆ moving cross country 3x.

spend yours with people who show they care.

Seeing our guys INVEST with JOY is my fav thing about spring:
6a practice: smiles on faces
28 degrees: bounce out of the locker room ready
weather: good snap, on time throws, catch everything
run: compete to win
fail: improve
all success is
#EarnedNotGiven
1999: fell in love playing football
2010: won world championship & first hired to coach
My work for the next 2 decades is to honor the people (mentors, coaches, players) who have inspired & invested in me
