I only have one “deal breaker” when it comes to recruiting Quarterbacks. “Must have over a 3.0 GPA” Don’t have to be extraordinarily intelligent to have a 3.0, but it shows a level of discipline, commitment and attention to detail. Can’t trust a 2.3 in the 4th Quarter.

Recruiting is not just about TALENT - it’s about FIT and NEED and it’s YEAR to YEAR. For example - if we don’t have a scholarship for a RB this year, it doesn’t matter if you’re Derrick Henry or Reggie Bush, we’re not going to recruit you this year. Don’t take it personally.

Sending me your Hudl link 15 times in a row isn’t going to get you recruited, it’s going to get you blocked! No coach has ever been harassed into an offer. I try hard to watch every film that’s sent, especially guys in my areas. But be respectful in how you send it as well.

HS Coaches, If you spend all your time publicizing your kids with multiple D1 offers, but aren’t doing anything for your kids still looking for opportunities, I question your motives. Sending 10 kids to the next level is more impressive than sending 1 to the NFL.

With National Championship hopes gone, Caleb Williams should consider sitting out the rest of the season. The Heisman is a long shot, CFB Playoffs are even less likely, and he won’t play in the bowl game. The risk of playing FAR outweighs the reward. Business decision.

Makes me sad for our profession when coaches are genuinely thankful that you’ll be honest with them in evaluating their kids… Means not enough of us are doing it! Doesn’t do you, your program or especially the kids any favors to string them along!

No coach has ever watched film and thought “This kid could help our Football team - too bad he doesn’t have any stars or I would offer him” We are creating a generation of kids who can’t accept that someone doesn’t think they are good. So they blame everything else.
