Recruits: Don’t let these “spring offers” followed by a camp invite fool you. If a coach offers you and hits you with a camp invite soon after, ask him if you can commit on the spot. That answer will tell you all you need to know about how that coach/school does business.

Recruits: Understand that you are being recruited to take someone’s job; and next year someone will be recruited to take your job. Don’t fall into the trap of thinking you can start working hard once fall camp starts or after your redshirt year. It may be too late by then.

Recruits: Getting offers and stars isn’t everything. Plenty of guys get ranked off Soph/Jr offers and never pan out at the college level. Plenty of guys get minimal offers and become multi year starters. Find the 1 offer that matters to you and make the most of it!

Recruits: It’s the PEOPLE in the building that make the difference, not the building itself. There are some really bad coaches in really nice buildings and some really good coaches in bad buildings. Find the PEOPLE that make you the best version of you.

Recruits: After this week a lot of the ‘23 scholarship spots at the D1 level will be gone. It doesn’t mean you can’t go D1, but the opportunities will be severely diminished moving forward. Plan accordingly to set yourself/your family up for the best situation.

Recruits: Best way to get “noticed” at a camp this summer, is to make sure the coaches know you are coming/ personally invited you (not generic invite). If you show up and haven’t talked with a coach beforehand, chances are you won’t get noticed unless you are 6’4+ or run a 4.4

Recruits: Understand that recruiting isn’t a perfect science. If it was, you wouldn’t see D2/FCS players transferring Power 5 and Power 5 players transferring FCS/D2. Ball out wherever you go and you will get noticed!

Recruits: Just because you don’t fit at 1 school doesn’t mean you won’t fit at the next one. Every school has different things they need for you to be a fit: Talent level, academics, scheme fit, scholarships available, etc. Keep searching for that fit, all it takes is 1 school!

Recruits: Be smart about the friends you hang around. Not everyone has the same life goals/aspirations. Not everyone is going to college as a student athlete. Not everyone is on scholarship. Not all decisions impact everyone the same. You have more to lose than many others.

Recruits: You don’t have to be ready to play in games Day 1 on campus. But you do have to be ready to stay off lists, go to class, work hard, listen, and show the ability to compete with your peers. Don’t let the inability to do those things get in the way of showing your talent.

Recruits: With HS seasons starting up, make sure to stay on top of your film and send to coaches. Game Film, 3 Game Highlights, Mid Season Highlights, etc. You are just as responsible for this part of your recruiting as your Coach. Can't get recruited if you aren't getting seen!

Recruits: Don’t let your “value” be defined by the sport you play. You are much more than an athlete and too many times the outside/self pressure of making it as an athlete pushes aside the value you can bring by being a great student, community member, teammate, friend, etc.

Recruits: All these commitments are going to create a trickle-down effect. For every P5 commit, there are 5+ guys that just lost that offer. Those guys now have to find something else; P5/G5. The cycle will continue. Don’t lose your spot waiting for something that may not come!

Recruits: With all offers, need to know how many players that school plans to sign at your position. Offers are only good until the spots are filled. 1-2 spots = Process could be very fast, get all important info ASAP. 3+ spots = Process could be slower but don’t procrastinate

Recruits: One of the best things you can do to help your recruitment is to get out and see schools. Use the Winter/Spring/Summer to take advantage of the opportunities to meet staffs. Much easier to “stand on the table” for a guy that you have met in person than one you have not!

Recruits: If your only concern is where you are on the depth chart, you are missing the point. If you are a 3 that prepares like a 3, then you will stay a 3. If you are a 3 that prepares like a 1, you may still not start, but at least you will be ready if/when your time comes.
