I got into coaching to help athletes grow & develop, on & off the field!
Sometimes the things going on OFF the field are most important. Support & love your players! They all have a background that you could never understand! Listen to them, you can & should learn from them too!
A little sloppy, but pulled 505, no wraps or belt. And I haven’t pulled anything heavier than 315 since August. Only done dynamic effort work at 45-60%. But people still want to say Conjugate doesn’t work? 🤔🤷🏻♂️

We cannot always control the circumstances dealt to us, however, we can find solutions.
Your mind finds what you are looking for. If you look for problems, you will find plenty. Similarly, if you look for solutions, you will find plenty. Find more solutions, and less problems!
When things are going well; look around you to see who else to give love too and build up. When things ready going bad; look in the mirror and see what YOU can do to make it better.
The best way to improve the team is to improve yourself!

Athlete's need to be training movements not muscle groups. Is there merit for direct hamstring, back, or arm work at times? Sure. But athlete's don't need chest day or leg day. They may do an upper day, or a lower day, if you're on a multi-day split. But they aren't bodybuilders!

Being weak is one of the biggest injury risks to athletes playing at a high level. Asking tissue to produce and absorb maximal force on the field, court, etc. that it isn’t capable of doing, is how athletes get injured!

You need to train maximally to perform maximally! High force production and absorption in sport by tissue not trained to produce and absorb that force cannot withstand it, repeatedly. Maximally could be volume-, intensity-, and frequency-based

Olympic lifting doesn’t make you fast. Training fast makes you fast. If you clean or snatch with poor hip extension and worry about the catch..it’s a waste of time and effort. You’re better off doing speed pulls and box squats.

Every day dozens of college athletes are testing positive for COVID when they arrive back at campus and go through mandatory testing.
Almost all of them are asymptotic.
Every day I become more convinced that 20% to 25% of us may have already had COVID and never knew it.
No need to reinvent the wheel. A lot of athletes do not have the training age to need super complex programming. Even collegiate.
It's not about how cool your video looks on social media. It's about the basic monotonous day-in, day-out dedication. That's they key to success
“What you aim at, determines what you see.” So aim up! Set goals and pursue them, in the classroom, in the weight room, in your personal life, and on the field!

When you are lifting with a training partner or in a group, the rack should be set for the shortest member of the group. You should never have to unrack a bar on your toes. Taller guys, you have to bend a bit more to unrack and rack. Its a safety issue!

For everyone: Don’t underestimate the efficacy of a 20-30 minute brisk walk around your neighborhood. Keeps you away from people, keeps you active, & no equipment needed when the local fitness facilities are shut down. (Athletes: not a replacement for body weight exercises, etc.)
