Video: Battersea Power Station is a £9 billion scheme with just 9% affordable housing.
Wandsworth's Tory council allowed the developers to cut 250 affordable homes for local people. A Labour council will insist these affordable homes are put back
A hard day’s work deserves a fair day’s pay.
I’m proud to announce that everyone working for Wandsworth’s Labour council - on staff or with a contractor - will be paid at least the London Living Wage

If action isn’t taken, we’ll remove all the Lime Bikes blocking streets in Wandsworth this Friday
Political meetings are changing. I’m in an interactive video call with
@DrRosena

Proud of our local MP - she’s doing shifts at St George’s Hospital as well as pressing the government for a more effective response to the Coronavirus crisis

I’m working from home so won’t need my zone 1-3 travelcard for June.
I’ve donated the cost to brilliant local charity Little Village, a ‘baby bank’ where parents can get donated clothes, toys and equipment.
If you can, please donate the cost of your commute to a local charity
Very sorry to hear that councillor Andy Gibbons passed away today.
Andy served local people in Tooting for decades with passion, patience and dry humour.
He was a kind and wise presence at the heart of the Wandsworth Labour family. We’ll miss him hugely
Proud of Wandsworth Labour’s excellent campaign and great team of 26 councillors for the next 4 years.
We got our best local election results in 30 years but we came up short.
A huge thank you to everyone who supported our campaign 🌹

The government must rethink its unfair plan to stop the poorest children in Battersea, Putney & Tooting using public transport.
I’ve joined our excellent local MPs -
@MarshadeCordova
@PutneyFleur
&
@DrRosena
- to oppose the end of free travel for under-18s
Standing room only for volunteers in St Joseph’s church hall, Roehampton.
@OwenJones84
recalls fond childhood memories of Putney & encourages activists to be full of hope and full of determination.
Vote for
@CllrFleur
to stop Brexit, save the NHS and tackle the climate crisis
Today the Government has announced £100 million to tackle homelessness across the UK.
To put that into context, £100 million buys you just 12 flats at Battersea Power Station.
If the Government was serious about ending homelessness, they’d tackle this inequality.
So angry about this.
I grew up in Bournville. Cadbury’s made the cricket pitch we played on, the local swimming pool - even the house we lived in.
A brilliant company that gave back to the community. It’s tragic what’s happened since it was sold to a multinational tax avoider
Sadiq Khan is a great Mayor of London & the best campaigner I’ve ever met.
He’s coming out with Battersea Labour volunteers tonight.
Join us: 6.30pm at Wandsworth Town station

Lime bikes continue to block pavements across Wandsworth.
The council has repeatedly asked Lime to operate in a more responsible way.
Today we impounded 42 Lime bikes that were parked inconsiderately on our streets

has left them at breaking point.
They deserve fair pay and dignity at work

We deserve a compassionate council that truly listens.
That creates affordable homes and safer, greener neighbourhoods. Only Labour can deliver this.
🌹 Vote Labour on May 5th to get the same low Council Tax, with better local services
Year after year, the housing crisis in Wandsworth gets worse - while the Council approves homes most families can’t afford.
That’s why if Labour wins the Council on May 5th we’ll build 1,000 new council homes on council land.
Secure, affordable homes guaranteed for local people
51 years ago today, Tony Belton was elected to Wandsworth Council.
An extraordinary - and surely unequalled - record of public service to the people of the borough.
Thank you, Tony 👍
Kyle Sinckler from Tooting is playing for England against New Zealand tomorrow. 🏉
There’s a lovely story in today’s Standard about how Kyle “changed lives” by setting up a rugby team at Graveney School when he was 13
Wandsworth Conservatives sold off thousands of council homes in the last 30 years - a record they're proud of.
Now we all pay the price - sky-high rents, unaffirdable homes & a local homelessness crisis.
They've been exposed by BBC News - retweet to spread the word.
More and more people across Wandsworth are choosing to vote Labour this Thursday, 3rd May.
Join them - and vote for a council based on fairness and common sense
Come and meet
@OwenJones84
this evening and support

🌹 St Joseph’s Church Hall, 218 Roehampton Lane (SW15 4LE)
Wandsworth is first council in the country to have the power to issue 20mph speed fines.
Making sure drivers stick to our 20mph limit improves pedestrian safety.
It also encourages more people to walk or cycle - and helps to reduce harmful emissions
Terrific team out listening to local people in Putney this morning.
Vote Labour on May 5th for the same low Council Tax with better local services - and send a message to Boris Johnson.
Read our manifesto for Wandsworth:
I’ve known Sadiq for 20 years as a councillor, local MP and now Mayor of our city.
He’s always been the same way: funny, full of energy and passionate about improving lives.

Tonight we voted against Wandsworth’s Local Plan.
Because Wandsworth Tories refused to prioritise genuinely affordable homes for local people.
And they continue to put property developers ahead of local people.
It’s time for change - here’s why ⬇️

We’ll be taking this to Full Council to put our case forward
Great to welcome volunteers from across Battersea, Putney and Tooting to our Wandsworth Labour victory party tonight.
Thank you for everything you do 👍
And we’re off! Brilliant start to Super Saturday with volunteers out across Battersea, Putney & Tooting.

Thanks to Marsha de Cordova MP for unveiling a plaque dedicated to Charlotte Despard at 177 Lavender Hill.
Despard - an aristocratic, Irish-nationalist suffragette - ran for Parliament exactly 100 years ago.
She gifted 177 to Battersea Labour & it’s still our HQ today!
Happy 80th birthday to Wandsworth’s greatest councillor, Tony Belton.
I’m on a zoom call with dozens of his friends to mark the milestone.
Tony’s in his 50th year in Wandsworth council. He’s smart, funny & passionately committed.
So time for a few embarrassing photos...
Excellent to see
@SadiqKhan
promise 40,000 new council homes for London if he wins a third term.

This is on top of
@SadiqKhan
support already available.
Time to clean up our borough’s air for everyone 🌳
Great speech by Wandsworth Labour councillor Maurice Mcleod on Tooting Common today:
“It took the horrible death of George Floyd on that street to prick the conscience & turn into a movement that’s all over the world
“We need to not let this be another passing moment”
I love election day!
Wonderful to kick off our Wandsworth campaigning with local boy
