I’ve always tried to be non-judgemental and apolitical on Twitter for reasons that should be obvious in my profile. However, in 100 years historians will probably use Twitter as a resource and I want it on record that on 18 July 2021 I said fuck boris johnson
19 July 1967 Olympic Studios - Lennon & McCartney provide backing vocals for The Rolling Stones’ next single ‘We Love You’ and, as Allen Ginsberg watches on, the b-side ‘Dandelion’.
Here are the isolated backing vox for the a-side

For anyone criticising Laura - She’s the kindest, most humble, generous and funniest person you could ever know.
Laura’s dropped a few cakes and has the messiest apron in the world. But read the news - there are ghastly people out there. Get some perspective. It’s a tv show!
Phew. Just had a moment listening to this!
In preparation for Now and Then I wanted to remind my self of John’s 1977 voice and Paul and George’s 1995 voices.
The care, respect and love they put into this is beyond touching.
As a kid The Beatles were ‘uncool’- “Paul McCartney? Frog chorus! etc”
I’ve since learnt there was a tribe of us scattered across the globe soaking in all the joy of those songs.
And on Saturday we’re celebrating together - all together now❤️
#EggPodLive
If you’re about on Sunday at 4.40pm GMT I’m on
@BBCRadioLondon
to talk about The Beatles’ Now and Then.
Grateful for the opportunity to counter the opinion of the only person who’s asked to come on EggPod that’s been an unequivocal “no”
The genius of Lennon & McCartney:
By coming up with the title ‘Yesterday’ John Lennon suddenly transformed the theme of the song.
That one word meant the lyrics *had* to become about reflection. Paul did the rest but John’s input was key.
(From 20/3/67)
Overwhelmed by how many people are coming to this. From day 1 it’s grown purely by word-of-mouth and it’s been a joy to find so many Beatles fans.
Throughout the lockdowns etc it was so cathartic to share our love of all that music - and now we can all be together! Thank you x
I am the EggPod LIVE!

Aside from being a true trailblazer Annie Nightingale was always a comfort. As others of my old fart vintage will attest, her Sunday evening radio show was loved so much. For anyone who left homework until the last minute, as a soothing backdrop to the frantic panic, was Annie.
I really (REALLY) love The Beatles. Because I love them so much I started a podcast to talk to other people who love them too. And (the best bit) everyone I’ve spoken to loves them even more than me.
I really hope this pod captures that happiness.
I’ve seen a lot of motivational posters pilfering out-of-context John Lennon lyrics. Ringo motivational posters are well overdue and it’s time to put that right.

Nothing if not consistent… Thanks to
@NemoNihil1664
for finding this footage from 9 Oct 1982 - (gormless sounding) me as a kid phoning Mike McCartney on Saturday Superstore
Just tweeting something because I don’t really tweet much and I’ve been told off for “lack of engagement”
Although it’s not a tweet anymore is it?
Not sure.
Anyway, here’s a nice picture of Derek Griffiths. My hero
Last year I interviewed Julia Baird, who wanted to promote Strawberry Field, with the strict proviso: “I’m not talking about John.”
Thankfully Julia has agreed to come back and this time it’s *all* about John.
Really enjoying rewatching Inside No. 9 on iPlayer. For some reason I missed The 12 Days of Christine - and have just experienced the most moving, heartbreakingly beautiful piece of TV I’ve ever seen. A 30 minute masterpiece,
@Sheridansmith1
’s performance is touching beyond words
John Lennon's school detention report includes such misdemeanours as: 'Impudent answer to question'; 'Silly noises in an examination'; 'Just no interest whatsoever'; and the delightfully vague 'Sabotage'.

🎶 It was 20 years ago today,
That you realised how much you weigh,
You’ve been going up and down in size,
But 30 stones was a big surprise,
So this is quite affordable,
Available on Audible,

Recently found a Beatles scrapbook I started as a 9 year old in October 1980.
To get it started I spent an afternoon cutting out Beatles pictures from my sister’s favourite books. Despite my pleas of: “But the scrapbook needs filling,” she was was furious
An interview with John Lennon’s sister that begins “I don’t want to talk about John” was always going to be difficult…
Hopefully what happened is still interesting - new EggPod on Wednesday
Thanks to
@BBCRadioLondon
and the fab Kath Melandri for allowing me to parp on about The Beatles' Now and Then. More than happy to be unapologetically gushing!
Starts at 1hr:40mins
This has blown my mind.
The bridge to The Kinks’ Autumn Almanac was composed first (“This is my street...”)
To complete the song, Ray Davies played this section backwards which not gave him the tune and melody, but also the title!
@LauraAdlington
Laura! You beautiful, clumsy AF, queen of resting-bitch-face wonder!
You’ve been beyond amazing and you’ve made so many people so very happy.
Can’t wait to see you again in your inevitable spin-off TV series. What a joy you’ve been. Love you to bits xxx
As of 21st February 2022 my wife & I (both high risk & vulnerable) are left exposed to covid due to your bizarre & scientifically unfounded ‘ruling’. No idea if we’ll see 2023?
We prayed for you when you were in ICU. May God have mercy on your soul.
Beyond chuffed that my friend (I hope we count as ‘friends’?!)
@SamiraAhmedUK
is going to interview Paul McCartney. Samira’s insight into the 60s is profound, so - aside from her astute interviewing style - this is going to be something so special.
Back in January 2018 I started a podcast, chatting to people I admired about their favourite Beatles album. This week, the one remaining album, “Yellow Submarine” was finished.
If you need some lockdown Beatley company, here are all the album reviews in chronological order...
I’ve always been amazed at how Beatles podcasts like
@akompodcast
and
@OneSweetDreamDi
so accurately cite authors and source material before putting forward opinions. Is it because as women they *have to* in order to be ‘taken seriously’?
It’s the 21st century…
Random pre-sleep tweet. The reason I made sure that Samira came on stage first was because I was terrified and wanted to make sure that she was sitting next to me.

Love this. Kenny Everett playing Michael Aspel a 1940’s archive BBC recording of an extremely posh reporter interviewing a resident from Tunbridge Wells.
Burt Bacharach's arrangement of Dionne Warwick's Always Something There to Remind Me is just one example of his genius.
His song starts as a subtle bosanova. But wait... at 1m30 it erupts into an operatic melodrama with an unmatched key change.
RIP Burt
What a joy and privilege it’s been to interview the adorable
@LAJwriter
for EggPod.
Looking forward to going to the preview of her new Macca book, which puts such a refreshing new perspective on Wings.
Slowly emerging from the pits of two weeks of covid and huge thanks to my audio comfort blankets throughout -
@TFTimeMachine
@SMERSHPOD
and
@big_sort
You’re ace! Thank you x
Prediction: By the end of 2024
@thelemontwigs
will be the biggest band in the world.
Their songwriting & musicianship is beyond words & the tracks from their forthcoming album are outstanding. Drenched in Beatles/Beach Boys
This is one from their last LP
The alchemy of The Beatles’ combined vocals never ceases to amaze me. In this isolated vocals mix of Day Tripper, John and Paul effortlessly flit between lead vocals - and when George joins in for the “Ahhhs” it’s quite sublime.

Whatevs, gutsy bligh. You can sod off piggybacking these celebrations. This was about pride, skill, passion and belief - qualities you nor any of your inbred cohorts understand.
In fact why are you still here? Galumph off to your sty. Be off with you, cretinous oaf.
Go away.
Football has come home! A stunning victory by the
@Lionesses
.
Huge congratulations to Sarina, Leah and the whole team. Football pitches across the country will be filled as never before by girls and women inspired by your triumph.
